Jason Bourne is a male character who features in the Bourne series.

One night during a storm an Italian fishing vessel comes across a body floating in the water of the Mediterranean approximately 60 miles off the coast of Marseilles. The fishermen retrieve the body and discover the man is still alive, they quickly bring him below deck where the boat’s physician Giancarlo examines him and discovers two gunshots in his back and a small electronic device that projects a numbered Swiss bank account embedded in his hip. The man comes to as Giancarlo inspects the device from his hip and attacks Giancarlo in a panic. Giancarlo calms him and asks him his name, which the man doesn’t know, and he passes out. The man spends the next several days aboard the boat trying to remember who he is, discovering along the way that he has a number of random skills including proficiency in a number of foreign languages like French and German, as well as an ability to tie complex knots with rope. Nevertheless, he cannot remember any details about himself. The boat eventually arrives in port and Giancarlo gives the man enough cash to buy a train ticket to Switzerland so he can follow the one lead he has: the Swiss bank account. He takes a train to Zürich and attempts to sleep on a park bench there when he’s confronted by two police officers on foot patrol. When they attempt to move him, his response in English prompts them to request papers. He tells them he has none, and when one of the officers pokes him with his club, the man finds he instinctively reacts in a defensive manner rapidly disarming and incapacitating the officers. He sheds his outer coat and flees the scene. Meanwhile at the Central Intelligence Agency, a meeting with senior staff is convened with the Deputy Director regarding exiled African leader Nykwana Wombosi, who is claiming that the agency attempted to assassinate him on his yacht. Wombosi is attempting to leverage the assassination attempt in exchange for the agency restoring his power. Present at the meeting, Section Chief Ward Abbott privately inquires with his subordinate Alexander Conklin who runs Operation Treadstone, having not been aware of this mission. Conklin says they lost communication with the man they sent after Wombosi and that they're doing everything they can to clean it up.
