Adapting the names of Punch and Judy, the two came to operate as a duo where she took the name Jewelee. Using her hypno-gems, she came to charm a realtor into selling them an abandoned carnival section on Coney Island whereupon they hypnotised people to serve as workers in the construction of an underground laboratory that was to be their secret lair. They then embarked on a plan to steal great scientific minds and copy their knowledge using a mind recorder whereupon they would sell this information to the highest bidders. (Captain Atom v1 #85)

Overview

Personality and attributes

She and her partner took the name Punch and Jewelee as adaptations of Punch and Judy. For her costume, she had adapted a diamond motif that matched the gems she had learned to use. (Captain Atom v1 #85)

Powers and abilities

Jewelee was born a human with not innate special abilities beyond the talents and skills she had acquired as a member of the carnival. (Captain Atom v1 #85)

Much of her equipment came from a mysterious chest that contained a number of high-tech gadgets from a strange civilisation. A mind recorder was included within the chest which she used to learn to use a strange set of gems. Among them were the hypno-gems that were handheld objects she could use to charm people or make them see an object that was not really there. She could use them to induce a dream spell on some of her victims. Another gem was capable of wrapping herself and another alongside her in darkness thus hiding them from detection with her having another gem capable of the opposite where it shined light on her target. She also had a gem that could blind her opponents thus helping her partner neutralise them. Her illusion gem was able to create realistic distractions such as explosions that she could use to make her escape. (Captain Atom v1 #85)

She and Punch came to establish a secret underground laboratory that served as their headquarters. They got it after Jewelee used her hypno-gems to trick a realtor to sell an abandoned carnival section on Coney Island to them. (Captain Atom v1 #85)
