Biography

Jhebbal Sag was an ancient god of beasts that existed in the Hyborian Age. Long ago, all living creatures were said to had worshipped him with both man and beast speaking the same language until both fell in their reverence to the god of beasts.

  • Jhebbal Sag was created by Robert E. Howard where he made his first appearance in Weird Tales v1 #25 "Beyond the Black River" (May-June, 1935).

  • In Conan the Adventurer, Jhebbal Sag was referenced in the setting of the 1990s animated television series. Zula of the Wasai tribe was a noted follower of Jhebbal Sag and could call upon animals to aid him. This included summoning a group of monkeys to bring food to starving prisoners or calling on lions to join the battle against his enemies. Zula summons the Master of Animals to battle the cruel wizard Wrath-Amon when he and the Serpent Men were attacking the Picts to acquire more Star Metal. This saw Jhebbal-Sag summoned as a chimera where he sought to protect the lands but was briefly corrupted by Wrath-Amon's Black Ring.

  • In Age of Conan, Jhebbal Sag was referenced in the setting of the MMORPG video game.
  • In Conan: Exiles, Jhebbal Sag was referenced in the setting of the video game. He was described as being the 'Lord of the Beasts' and as the 'God of animals, nature, and savagery'. It was said that those men who worshipped this god could tame animals. In the Midnight Grove, players could learn the Jhebbal Sag religion by defeating the god's champion and consuming its flesh.
