Jim was a resident in the town of Devil's End. While walking his dog home from the Cloven Hoof in a storm one night, he was attacked by Bok in the graveyard of the old church. The sight of the living gargoyle caused him to die of a fear-induced heart attack. The following day, Dr. Reeves declared that he'd died of natural causes, over the protests of Olive Hawthorne, who insisted devilish forces were at work.
