History

Joel's Diary was a book kept by Joel Goldschmidt who was the wealthy head of the Goldschmidt family in the early 19th century. Its origins were traced to the time when Joel I used his chateau as a place for private research into various species which he called "the Zoo". Its first entry began in 1832 where it concerned the events surrounding the discovery of a mysterious mummified corpse. Unknown to anyone, this was actually a queen of the Chiropteran race. The next entry was on April 8th, 1833 when the mummy was transported to the "Zoo" and Joel Goldschmidt believed it would give the answers to evolution. At the time, assistance in the dissection of the specimen was provided by Joel's assistant, Amshel. Within the body, they discovered two smaller cocoons where Amshel was trying to open one only to accidently cut himself. A drop of his blood fell into the cocoons and the two ment noticed as they reacted to the blood and absorbed it.

On August 4th, 1833, the diary revealed that two baby girls emerged from the cocoons and detailed that one of he children was taken as an experimental subject with no name given to her. The other was taken in to be raised as a normal human and they named her Saya. The contents of the diary revealed that Joel I was kind to Saya where she showed himself to be a caring father but he demonstrated himself as a cruel researcher to the experimental subject who had been left entirely in the care of Amshel. This child was given no education nor love and a bare minimum amount of food. In June 2nd, 1863, the girl Saya was raised as a young girl where the diary revealed that she had not aged passed a certain point where time seemingly stopped for her. Joel's Diary detailed that one particular day showed that Saya had hurt her hand when Joel Goldschmidt attempted to wipe the blood from the wound only to discover that it had already healed. His study also revealed that when the blood of the two specimens were mixed then it would crystallize.

Afterwards, Joel I bought a young boy called Hagi as a family slave with the intention of introducing the child as a groom for Saya in the hopes that they would concieve an offspring child. The contents of the diary end on Joel's 72nd birthday with the final entry being covered in blood with no further writings beyond that point. At this point, the experimental subject named Diva had escaped and the chateau burnt down though Joel's Diary survived where it was passed amongst his descendants. The Goldschmidt clan thus became keepers of the book and dedicated themselves to the fight against Chiropterans with the aid of the organization called Red Shield.

Overview

Though it originally belonged to Joel I, it passed to his descendants in the Goldschmidt family following the accident at his chateau. It became the basis for all knowledge on Chiropterans and served as the knowledge base for the struggle against Diva. Each Goldschmidt served as the keeper of these records that contained Joel I's research and findings regarding the twin Chiropteran queens known as Saya and Diva. The importance of the diary meant that it was carefully preserved by the Goldschmidt clan and its secrets were only revealed to those that were dedicated to the Red Shield's mission. Once read, any outsiders became fully committed to the cause against Diva and there was no turning back upon reading the contents of the book.
