Biography
Origin
John Butcher
When he was 12 years old, his grandfather took him on a trip to the Butte in order to take part in a four day fast. (Butcher v1 #1)
It took him a month to find the true culprit responsible for the death of his parents where he tracked it to Loftus. The man worked for the Namdorph Corporation who had wanted to harvest special crystals that resided beneath his family's lands in order to use them in the building of a particle beam weapon. Looking for clues, he tracked Loftus to a train travelling from Canada to the U.S. with Butcher infiltrating it. He came to kill the bodyguard that tried to murder him where he began to interrogate Loftus. He revealed that Namdorph where he learnt that the corporation was a large organization operating from San Francisco. From the man, he gained a new clue when Loftus gave him a name which was Edward Gryzinski who was a higher-ranking executive in the company. (Butcher v1 #1)
Post-Flashpoint
Following the Flashpoint, a new version of reality was created with a different series of events. John Butcher was a member of the Outsider Clans after finding the Axe Totem leading to him becoming the leader of the Axe Clan. (Green Arrow v5 #21) He was allied with Magus and in the guise of a police officer he intercept Oliver Queen's car when he was driving on the road in Arizona where he knocked him out. (Green Arrow v5 #20)
Overview
Personality and attributes
During a vision quest, he saw himself as a hawk and that it was his mission to kill snakes that represented the evil people of the world. (Butcher v1 #1)
His parents owned a small store called Candy-Grass Sundries on the edge of the Thunder Basin National Grasslands located north of Lance Creek. (Butcher v1 #1)
Powers and abilities
His grandfather had taught him chants that helped him to enter into a trance-like state. In that state, he was more aware of his surroundings and time seemed to slow down for him. (Butcher v1 #1)
From his sensei Tsunami, he came to learn martial arts from his dojo in Okinawa. (Butcher v1 #1)
