Biography
Pre-Crisis
Johnny Thunder
Thunder was kidnapped as a one-year-old infant from his American home by agents representing the Priest of Aissor from the island nation of Badhnesia. Because he was born at precisely 7:00 AM on the seventh day of the seventh month, local prophecies dictated that he would inherit extraordinary capabilities on his seventh birthday, prompting the high priest to perform a sacred, mystical ritual over him using the phrase 'Cei-U' while bestowing upon him the Eternal Zone of the Zodiac belt. Through an exceptional string of unexpected logistical accidents, Johnny Thunder managed to escape the island at age five, boarding an American freighter that successfully returned him across the ocean to be reunited with his biological parents. On his subsequent seventh birthday, intense torrential downpours battered the planet for seven days straight, though his childhood home was entirely spared from the weather. Years later, having reached twenty-three years of age, Johnny Thunder secured employment as an urban window washer, entirely unaware that the ancient Badhnesian cultists had finally tracked his location to launch a secondary kidnapping plot. While performing his cleaning duties on a high-rise ledge, he suffered a sudden slip and vocalized the phrase 'Say You' purely as a casual exclamation, which inadvertently triggered the phonetics of his dormant magic word. An invisible, sentient magical force known as the Thunderbolt instantly manifested to fulfill his subconscious desires, rescuing him from the plunge and subsequently protecting him from the oncoming cultist ambush, though the resulting workplace chaos ultimately caused Johnny Thunder to be fired from his job. Overview
Personality and attributes
In appearance, Johnny Thunder was a human male of American nationality with a standard, un-athletic, and everyday physical build. He possessed short, neatly combed blonde hair, wide open eyes, and a mild-mannered, bumbling facial expression that lacked any distinct physical scarring, tactical markings, or muscular definition. His civilian wardrobe consisted of practical, working-class 1940s American workforce attire tailored for his labor responsibilities. He wore a heavy, dark-coloured long-sleeved utilitarian shirt underneath a pair of durable, light-coloured overalls equipped with functional tool pockets and chest straps, cinched at the waist by the ornate, mystical Badhnesian ceremonial belt known as the Eternal Zone of the Zodiac. This outfit was complete with flat-soled leather working boots suitable for maintaining traction on narrow window-washing scaffolds and city streets. (Flash Comics v1 #1)
Powers and abilities
Johnny Thunder was born a member of the human race, which meant that on a basic level, he possessed entirely ordinary human biological attributes, lacked any intrinsic metahuman traits, and was bound by standard human physical limitations. He possessed no formal martial arts, military, or tactical self-defense training, relying entirely on baseline human reflexes and a highly clumsy demeanor to navigate dangerous scenarios. His primary exceptional capability was an extraordinary, passive baseline luck and a deep-seated mystical link to the 5th-dimensional entity known as the Thunderbolt, which was permanently forged during his childhood exposure to the sacred Badhnesian rites. By explicitly vocalizing the English phonetic phrase 'Say You', he possessed the unique power to unknowingly summon and command an invisible, immensely powerful magical force capable of manipulating local environments, redirecting physical attacks, and seamlessly neutralising hostile assailants to guarantee his absolute physical safety.
