History

Judges was a rank and position that emerged in Mega-City One following the overthrowing of the U.S. Constitution in 2070. The emerging Justice Department then empowered its agents to ensure law and order was maintained leading to the rise of Judges. The Judge System was created by Eustace Fargo who was a special government prosecutor for street crime between 2027 and 2031 in order to combat a rising tide of violent crime and to speed up the process of justice.

Overview

They were products of many years training and psychological conditioning that began when the candidate was 5 years old. Recruits were chosen from promising children though some Judges were actually grown from clones of existing members. Cadet Judges usually spent 15 years training in order to become fully fledged Judges though in some exceptional circumstances some could graduate quicker.

In terms of organisation, Judges were led by the Chief Judge and the Council of Five.

There were various specialisations of Judges that included:

  • Med-Judge :
  • Psi Judge :
  • Riot Judge :

At the end of their career, street Judges could retire from service and may choose to take the Long Walk leading to them leaving Mega-City One for exile outside its borders.

Their primary armament was the Lawgiver developed by General Arms with these being voice-activated machine pistol that served as the standard sidearm.

A particular mode of transport used by Judges were heavy-duty motorcycles called Lawmasters.
