Kiba Inuzuka entered the central arena floor of the tournament tower alongside Akamaru after being officially called by the proctor, Hayate Gekko, to compete in the seventh preliminary match of the Chunin Exams. Upon stepping onto the designated concrete floor, Kiba Inuzuka aggressively confronted his selected opponent, Naruto Uzumaki, smirked confidently, and explicitly boasted that his victory would be an absolute certainty since he was facing the class dead-last. The moment the match commenced, Kiba Inuzuka immediately dropped into a low crouch to drop his center of gravity, accelerated to maximum momentum, and delivered a brutal, full-force physical strike directly into Naruto Uzumaki's stomach. Believing the single devastating blow had finalized the encounter, Kiba Inuzuka arrogantly turned toward the proctor and demanded that the match be officially called, mockingly advising the recovering Naruto Uzumaki that he should have run away or brought a puppy to assist him. When Naruto Uzumaki stood back up and verbally retaliated, Kiba Inuzuka pulled multiple smoke bombs from his utility pouch, throwing them heavily onto the ground to completely black out the field with a dense cloud of thick gas. He utilized the total structural obstruction to blindly blitz the target, executing a sequence of rapid close-quarters strikes and slamming Naruto Uzumaki into the concrete. As the smoke dissipated to reveal an apparently unconscious target, Kiba Inuzuka called Akamaru to his side to celebrate, only to watch in total astonishment as the fallen body vanished into a shadow clone. Before he could reposition his footing, the Akamaru he had just summoned unexpectedly transformed into a disguised Naruto Uzumaki who forcefully pinned his arms, while a hidden clone trapped the real, whimpering ninken, completely reversing the tactical positioning of the arena duel.

In appearance, Kiba Inuzuka was a short, lean male humanoid of the human race. He had fair skin, narrow, sharp dark eyes with distinct vertical slit-like pupils, and short, messy, spiky brown hair that fell loosely around his face. His most defining physical features were two bright red, inverted triangular markings painted or tattooed vertically onto his cheeks, directly below each eye. He wore a heavy, loose-fitting grey-furred coat with a thick hood that featured a dark interior lining, which was kept open at the collar. Underneath his coat, he wore a simple, light-coloured inner shirt. His lower attire consisted of loose-fitting, dark grey trousers that ended just below his shins, held up by a plain belt, and the lower shins of his legs were wrapped tightly in white cloth bandages. He wore standard, open-toed dark ninja sandals, leaving his toes exposed.
