Biography
Beatrix Kiddo became the deadliest woman in the world. At an unknown point she met and fell in love with the man called Bill joining his Deadly Viper Assassination Squad and becoming Bill's lover. Under Bill she learned the ways of the samurai sword and was trained in martial arts by Bill's old master; Pai Mei. As one of the DiVAS, Beatrix earned the codename: Black Mamba. At some point, Bill and Beatrix traveled to China, where he recited the story of a legendary martial arts master named Pai Mei, and of a deadly attack only Pai Mei knows, called the Five Point Palm Exploding Heart Technique. Shortly after, the 2 reached Pai Mei's residence, where Pai Mei agreed to take Beatrix as his student, although she represented all the aspects he hated. After presumably a couple of years, Beatrix returned to the United States, and continued to serve as the deadliest assassin at Bill's service.
Her last mission for Bill was an assignment to fly to Los Angeles and assassinate Lisa Wong, but on the way, Beatrix was spotted and Wong sent an assassin of her own. While on the mission Beatrix discovered she was pregnant with Bill's child. After managing to talk the assassin sent for her (Karen Kim) out of the hit, she realized she had to be responsible for this child (which would be a daughter), and would not let Bill claim her and raise her to be an assassin.
Beatrix fled to El Paso, Texas, taking up the alias Arlene Machiavelli meeting and falling in love with a guy named Tommy Plympton, and working with him in his used record store. The couple eventually got engaged, and planned to have their wedding ceremony at the Two Pines chapel. They arranged a wedding rehearsal, fully dressed and attended by their friends and family, where it became apparent that no one from Beatrix's side would attend. On the rehearsal day, Bill tracked her down where Beatrix found him at the exterior of the chapel, playing his flute. Although at the time, Bill believed that Beatrix's baby was Tommy's, he insisted on attending her wedding. He was introduced to Tommy as Arlene's father, who returned from Australia after a silver mining operation. When Tommy walked away, Bill and Beatrix shared a tender kiss. Beatrix returned to the ceremony, while moments after, the four members of the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad entered the chapel, and killed all the attendees. Beatrix, the last survivor, was brutally attacked, being thrown from one member of the Squad to another and beaten almost to death. Lying on the floor, she saw Sofie Fatale whom she recognized as one of Bill's protégés. Bill approached her, yet just as she began to reveal to him that the baby was his, he shot her in the head, leaving her for dead.
Beatrix went into a 4 year coma, during which B.B. Kiddo was delivered successfully. Soon after being admitted to the hospital, Elle Driver paid a visit to Beatrix's room, with the intention of killing her by inserting a poisonous injection into her intravenous line. Elle was stopped seconds before doing so by a phone call from Bill, who claimed that Beatrix deserves a better death than that, and that by sneaking into her room "like a filthy rat" would lower down their status. Elle, angrily, agreed and left. During the four years, a male nurse named Buck raped Beatrix's body, as well as allowing others to do the same for a fee. For an unknown reason, Beatrix woke up after being bitten by a mosquito, discovered the metal plating side of her head where she was shot, and was completely distraught after finding that she was no longer pregnant. Just as she used the lines in her palms to determine how much time had passed since she went into a coma, a new customer of Buck's entered the room to rape her. Initially pretending to still be comatose, she killed the customer when he got close enough and proceeded to kill Buck as well after realizing he does not work for Bill and how he used her body. Beatrix stole the keys to his car, and reached the parking lot using a wheelchair.
After forcing her body to recover from the state of coma and start functioning, Beatrix booked a one-way ticket to Okinawa, when she tracked down the legendary swordsmith Hattori Hanzō, who crafted Bill's sword. Upon her arrival to his sushi bar, she pretended neither to know who he was nor to be able to speak Japanese, yet she soon revealed to him that she needed a katana to get rid of a certain ‘vermin’. The vermin was Bill, who had also been Hanzo's student. Although he took a blood oath to never make a sword again, Hattori was moved by her plight, and agreed to craft her one. After a month of practicing at the attic of his restaurant, Beatrix received from Hanzō his best sword to date. She then left Okinawa, and booked a one-way ticket to Tokyo.
Armed with her new sword, Beatrix arrives at Tokyo, where she located O-Ren Ishii in a club known as the House of Blue Leaves. While in the restroom, Beatrix recognizes the voice and cell phone ringtone of Sofie Fatale, O-Ren's lawyer, who was present during the Massacre at Two Pines. Following Sofie, Beatrix calls out O-Ren's name and lures O-Ren out by cutting off Sofie's left arm. O-Ren orders her personal guard containing six members of the Crazy 88 to attack. Beatrix kills them easily and prepares to take on O-Ren. O-Ren orders her personal bodyguard, Gogo Yubari, to attack Beatrix. After a short yet bloody fight, Beatrix kills and defeats Gogo, who instantly dies. Beatrix is then attacked by the rest of O-Ren's army, the Crazy 88, whom she defeats as well. She ordered the survivors of the fight to leave, but to leave the limbs they lost during the battle behind, as they belonged to her now. Leaving nothing between her and O-Ren, the two duel in the snowy garden of the club. Although O-Ren taunts Beatrix that she is no match for her, Beatrix scalps and fatally wounds O-Ren. O-Ren's final words confirm her recognition that Beatrix's sword must truly be a Hattori Hanzō sword, before succumbing to her death. Beatrix fetches Sofie and locks her in the trunk of her car, where she tortures her until she gives Beatrix the information she needs regarding the rest of the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad members. Upon acquiring the needed information, Beatrix throws Sofie down a hill, where she rolls towards an entrance to a hospital. On her way back to the United States, Beatrix forms her Death List Five with O-Ren's name crossed out.
After dispatching O-Ren, Beatrix returned to the United States where she killed Green, Vernita, and travelled south to get Budd, but he managed to get the drop on her and buried her alive under the grave Paula Schultz. But remembering her mentoring with Pai Mei, she managed to escape from her tomb. Beatrix travelled back to kill Budd only to find him dead at the hand of her old rival, Elle Driver. The two battled, and Beatrix plucked Elle's other eye out leaving her blind in Budd's trailer.
Beatrix headed to Mexico, finally coming face to face with Bill, and much to her surprise her very much alive and well daughter B.B., whom Bill had been raising since her birth. Rather than fight, Bill intoduced B.B. to her, and as it turns out he told her nothing but good things about her Mommy. After putting B.B. to bed, Bill and Beatrix had their confrontation, as Bill forced her to admit why she ran away from him, and she realized that even she didn't believe her life in El Paso would work.
Beatrix and Bill crossed Hanzo Swords, in a short fight, which Beatrix almost lost when Bill knocked her sword from her hands. As Bill lunged for the kill, she caught his sword in her scabbard, then, while he was open, she ended the fight by performing on Bill the one move taught to her by Pai Mei that was not taught to Bill: the Five Point Palm Exploding Heart Technique. Bill and Beatrix exchanged last words, making peace- because in the end, despite everything, they did still love one another. Bill stood up and with dignity took his last five steps and met his death.
Afterwards Beatrix took B.B. and to begin a new life. In the end she was both happy and sad, for while her quest ended, it was truly bitter-sweet.
Overview
Personality and attributes
Among the DiVAS, she came to be known by the code name of Black Mamba. After leaving the assassin life behind her, she decided to operate under the name of Arlene Machiavelli whilst in El Paso. During her wedding, her identity was not known by the authorities and she came be known as the Bride on account of being in her wedding dress when she was nearly killed.
Powers and abilities
Kiddo was trained in martial arts by the harsh master Pai Mei.
She managed to convince the legendary swordsmith Hattori Hanzo to come out of retirement to forge a katana for her.
Originally, she was a member of the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad that served under Bill and had operated as his right hand.
