Kilowog

Green Lantern

On Oa; Kilowog was assigned to train rookie Green Lantern Hal Jordan in the use of his power ring, and put Hal through the wringer for a number of weeks until he was satisfied that Hal was improving. (Green Lantern: Emerald Dawn v1 #4)

Kilowog and the Corps defended Oa against an attack by Legion. The Corps failed to prevent Legion from reaching the inner sanctum of the Guardians of the Universe, but Hal Jordan defeated Legion before he could harm the Guardians. Kilowog boasted that Jordan was his trainee. (Green Lantern: Emerald Dawn v1 #6)

Years after Abin Sur’s death the Corps learned that he had a son, Amon Sur, and Katma-Tui, Kilowog and Tomar-Tu delivered news of his death to the boy and his mother. Amon was enraged that his father’s successor Hal Jordan was not the one to break the news. (Green Lantern v4 #17)

In Paris, France; Kilowog built a machine that focused Superman's heat-vision enough to perform delicate surgery on the wounded Leaguer Power-Girl. (Justice League Europe v1 #9)

Kilowog and the Corps responded to a distress signal from Brik, who was battling Star Sapphire alongside Hal Jordan. Kilowog and the Corps defeated Sapphire and her ally Flicker, who wanted to force the Corps members to fight for him as mercenaries. (Green Lantern v3 #24) Kilowog and the Corps were on hand to watch Hal Jordan and Guy Gardner fight it out to determine who would be Earth's Green Lantern. The Corps held the Justice League back from interfering, but seeing the toll Hal and Guy's battle was taking on New York City they demanded they change the nature of the fight or take it to space. Hal and Guy fought man to man without power rings. Hal won, and the Corps celebrated. (Green Lantern v3 #25)

Hal Jordan used his power ring to contact Kilowog and told him he'd found Arisia, and asked Kilowog to take her to Oa. Kilowog was glad Arisia was safe, but told Hal he was overwhelmed finishing his training of the new Corps members, and would soon be busy starting a new GLC recruitment drive, so he couldn't help Hal at the moment. (Green Lantern v3 #33)

Dark Lantern

The soul of Green Lantern Hal Jordan summoned the spirit of Kilowog and a band of deceased Corps members to help him fight and weaken Asmodel / Spectre. Hal tried to apologize to Kilowog for killing him, but Kilowog told him to keep his mind on the fight. The attack was successful, and Hal took the Spectre-Force away from Asmodel, becoming the new host of the spirit of vengeance, and gaining a shot at redemption. (Day of Judgment v1 #4)

Return

Following the defeat of Parallax the Guardians were reforming the GLC, sening rings to the 3,600 sectors of space and bringing back recruits to Oa, and they chose Kilowog to train the new generation of Lanterns. Hal visited Kilowog and wanted to know what the Guardians wanted from him, and Kilowog admitted that they didn’t need his involvement aside from continuing to patrol his old sector. New recruits Bareer Wot, B’dg, Grumb, and Lok Neboora were taken aback because Hal was an Earthman, and Hal realized they had no idea he’d destroyed the last GLC. Kilowog reminded him that the universe was a big place, and in the big picture Hal wasn’t that important. Hal told him he could live with that. He had a mock combat with Kilowog for the new recruits until he was recalled to Earth on a mission. (Green Lantern v4 #4)
