Kulan Gath is a male comic character who features in Conan the Barbarian.

Biography

Origin

Kulan Gath was a male human sorcerer who lived thousands of years ago on Earth during the Hyborian Age. During that time, he was noted to had married the witch Vammatar as part of an alliance to attain the power of the demon Shuma-Gorath.

He eventually sought the power of the Melnibonéan sorceress Terhali who had been exiled to Earth and placed in suspended animation. During the quest, he approached Terhali as she awoke where she used her power to disintegrate Kulan Gath with a magical bolt of energy thus seemingly killing the sorcerer.

Modern Age

Seeking to attain power, he decided to embark on an ambitious plan to consume a demon god namely Shuma-Gorath. However, he could not accomplish the feat of devouring the entity so instead decided to make use of a drug that turned humans into facsimiles of Shuma-Gorath. These incarnations were then taken to be consumed by Kulan Gath who then gained some of the demon's power as a result. Ultimately, the goal was to consume the entirety of Shuma-Gorath's might and become a god. To achieve his goals, Kulan Gath came to take control of a faction of the Hand after consuming their leaders where he along with his priests set about on this grant plan. (Savage Avengers v1 #13)

He came to have an apprentice by the name of Razal Gulath.

In time, he came to seek the claim the power of the elder god Shuma-Gorath. (Savage Avengers v1 #11)

Powers and abilities

Gath was a noted cannibal who actually stole magical knowledge and power from those he had consumed. (Savage Avengers v1 #11)
