Biography
Lando
Lando was a magician who earned his money giving magic performances, and who dedicated his spare time to fighting all wrong-doers and threats to America's safety. After a highly successful tour Lando went on vacation in Neva, a small town in the Rockies. The locals jibed him about his outlandish magician costume, so he used a spell to turn the clothes of the toughest one into a dress. Having properly chastised the bully, Lando signed into a motel, and the clerk Rossi tried to dissuade him from staying in town, but Lando would have none of it. A girl named Micki Davis snuck into his room, telling him she was suspicious that Crown Mountain outside of town was a base for enemy spies. The locals tried to keep people away from Neva and Crown, and she begged for his help in rooting out the spies. Lando found Rossi snooping outside his door, and made his nose grow to Pinocchio lengths for his impertinence. Lando promised Micki he'd investigate the next morning. They hired a guide, who was actually one of the spies in Rossi's employ. When they started climbing and were hooked together with ropes the guide cut them, hoping Lando would fall to his death. Lando demonstrated that he could levitate and forced the guide to tell him the straight dope. Spy General Hong and his men had an airdrome on top of the mountain, and they planned on taking over the U.S. Lando flew to the top of the mountain, turned all of Hong's planes into broken-down autos, and easily dispatched Hong, creating a cage from the thin air to imprison him. Following a magic show, he was contacted by Farnum & Waley that was a circus plagued with recent woes that seemingly were the acts of sabotage. They were willing to pay Lando for his aid in finding the culprits with the most recent incident being the poisoning of their camels. Arriving at the scene, he was briefed on events when Mr. Farnum's right hand man Durkin was found dead after being shot by the saboteurs. The next day, Lando participated in the circus performance where his shows of magic dazzled the crowd. He would save the life of the performer Hugo who nearly fell to his death. Afterwards, a fire started among the tents with Lando conjuring water to extinguish it. Then, the elephant known as Juggernaut was cut free and went on a rampage. Lando was able to conjure a large supply of peanuts that was able to satiate the animal. By this point, Lando came to suspect that two circus performers named Beppo and Leppo were acting suspicious. Turning invisible, he decided to follow the pair in order to discover the truth. This confirmed that the culprits were indeed Beppo and Leppo. They had been contracted by a rival company to wreck the circus before Farnum had paid off his mortgage for it. This would allow the rivals to swoop in and take over the circus with Beppo and Leppo being paid for their aid. Confronting them, the two murderers looked to murder Lando the way they had done with Durkin. However, the Man of Magic transformed the gun into a jack-in-the-box that manifested a boxing glove which knocked out Leppo. Beppo attempted to flee but Lando freed Juggernaut who was magically given the ability to speak. Chasing down Beppo, the elephant manage to capture the criminal who was held in place until the authorities arrived. Thus, Farnum & Waley's circus was saved with the murderers taken in by the police.
