Leatherhead
Within the sewers, the small alligator was discovered by a pair of Utroms who took him back to their laboratory for study. Whilst there, he was accidentally exposed to Mutagen that transformed him into his mutant form. This was a concern to the Utroms who were against the tampering of life forms and asked the alligator to stay where they named him Leatherhead. Despite being welcomed among the Utroms, Leatherhead had a strong bond to his former home in the sewers and regularly made trips there but would return to his home among his alien benefactors. One day, he was returning from the sewers only to find the Utrom's headquarters to had been destroyed with the alien beings missing with Leatherhead believing humans to be responsible for their disappearance. Leatherhead later came to be captured by a renegade group of Utrom radicals called the Illuminated. They looked to clone him and create an army of mutants to aid them in their world cleansing agenda. It was revealed that they had been he ones responsible for drugging him to make him subconsciously build the second Transmat Device with little memory of the event. This caused his missing eye to heal and increased his size massively as a result. The other Utroms of the Multiverse Defense Council came to recruit the Turtles with saving Leatherhead where they were transported to the Illuminated base an defeated the clones as well as destroyed the renegade Utrom organization. Leatherhead than returned to Earth with the Turtles rather than go to the Utrom homeworld. (Tales of the TMNT v2 #23)

- Leatherhead was created by Ryan Brown where he made his first appearance in Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles v1 #6 (1988) by Mirage Studios.
