The Legacy of Life was an ancient artifact and device that featured in the third Journeyman Project game.

Background

The Legacy of Life was a device created by the ancient Sosiqui race with the intention of gifting it to the younger species as they had ascended existence beyond that of other races. It was their intention of giving the Legacy for all races and it contained the accumulated knowledge as well as wisdom of the elder species. They would travel to the planet Earth where they were seen as gods by the native Humans and they placed the three pieces of the Legacy at various temples around the world where they informed the priests that a coming battle would cause the Legacy to become lost. After which, they departed the known worlds for parts beyond.

The existence of the Legacy was known to both the Cyrollans and the Quol'tholos races who attempted to gain the knowledge the revered Elders which they saw as their right. Eventually, both species learnt of it existing on the planet Earth and attempted to claim it. Rather then let it fall to enemy hands, both sides instead destroyed the temples where they resided which meant that they were lost to the ages. However, an Atlantean priest made use of the Legacys knowledge to extend his life for centuries and used it to eventually create a time machine but the artifacts were lost when the Cyrollans and Quol'tholos fought over the Legacy. It was eventually located by Temporal Security Agency agent Gabe Black and he was possessed by a recording of the Sosiqui who explained that the Legacy was meant as a gift to all the younger races. It stated that the Legacy would remain in the hands of Humanity until the other races were mature enough to make use of it.

Inscriptions on the Legacy were made in a Sosiqui language which could be translated by certain Humans as parts of that dialect became a primitive form of Sosiqui which was adopted by many ancient Human civilizations. These writings also contained formula that was hidden behind the inscriptions which told the user how to restore as well as extend their lives allowing them to live for centuries. In addition to this, the equations explained how the users could manipulate time and building time travelling machines. When the three small pyramidical pieces were brought together, they would unleash bolts of yellowish energy before merging. These bolts were capable of opening rifts in time which was able to blast away those who tried to use it for evil purposes. However, it was capable of sensing those who were worthy to use its power maturely at which point a recording would activate that was capable of possessing a person or showing a visage of the Sosiqui which explained the Legacy's purpose.
