Lignin

Lignin, an evil tree spirit, was the self-proclaimed lord of the dead. He resided in the Tomb of Torment in the Graveyard of Ghouls, to which he lured wearers of his scarab rings and transformed them into his zombie slaves. The tree ate Mighty Max when he came to the Graveyard, swallowing him down into Lignin's Tomb where Max faced the evil spirit himself. Max discovered Lignin's weakness was fire, and hurling a torch destroyed the evil tree creature, burning him up.
