Biography

Origin

Among her fathers closest friends was Major-General Ka'ardum who was a famed military leader in the Imperium's forces and served as a loving uncle to Lilandra. (Uncanny X-Men v1 #484)

Her niece was Deathcry who was born of the same nest with Lilandra holding the child as a hatchling and feeding her from her own mouth. (Chaos War: Dead Avengers v1 #2)

She eventually rose to the position of Grand Admiral in the Imperial Fleet. (X-Men v1 #105)

Lilanda later came to head the Great Rebellion against her brother D'Ken. (X-Men v1 #105)

After becoming Empress, her uncle Ka'ardum attempted a coup against her as he did not believe in her peaceful policies but he was defeated. It was believed that he was killed by the famed Major-General was placed in a special detention facility and kept exiled on a prison moon. (Uncanny X-Men v1 #484)

In the aftermath, she began spending time Trellerri that was a beautiful world that served as a retreat for the Shi'ar High Council and royalty in order to recover from the damage Cassandra Nova had done to her. Unknown to Lilandra, her Chancellor Araki had been conspiring with the Secret Order to depose her and return her comatose brother D'Ken to power. (Uncanny X-Men v1 #481)

Seeking allies, Lilandra led the X-Men and Starjammers to the Asteroid Archipelago where they assaulted the facility in order to free Major-General Ka'ardum. Lilandra believed that with his support that a large number of forces of the Shi'ar armada would pledge their allegiance to her. Initially, he refused but agreed to do so in order to fight against the restored D'Ken whose mad policies were believed to be a threat to the empire. (Uncanny X-Men v1 #484)

Sometime after her death, the unhatched egg that contained her and Charles Xavier's daughter became the focus of Shi'ar politics as factions were using this to legitimise their rule in the empire. The egg hatched with the child naming herself Xandra who came to know her parents through the memories of Rogue and Gambit. (Mr. and Mrs. X v1 #3)

Personality and attributes

From her union with Charles Xavier, Lilandra became pregnant with their child that was born as an egg which was kept in stasis. The unborn daughter was pledged to the Shi'ar royal family and inherited her parents considerable telepathic abilities making her an Omega-level weapon. After the death of her parents, the egg hatched with the daughter taking the name of Xandra. (Mr. and Mrs. X v1 #3)

  • Lilandra Neramani was created by Chris Claremont and Dave Cockrum where she made her first appearance in X-Men v1 X-#97 (February, 1976).

Alternate Versions

  • In Team X 2000 v1 #1 (1999), an alternate version of Lilandra Neramani was shown who resided on Earth-9922. She had a daughter with Charles Xavier who was named Alanna Neramani where she was raised among the Shi'ar. Alanna despised her mother and plotted her downfall by the time she was an adult resulting in a civil war amongst the Shi'ar.
  • In X-Men: The End v1 #2 (2004), an alternate version of Lilandra Neramani was shown to reside on Earth-41001. On this Earth, she was shown to have had a son with Professor with their offspring being named Xavi. His birth was kept secret from his father and the child grew up as the first born son of Majestrix Lilandra who ruled the Shi'ar empire with him being the next in line for the throne.

  • In X-Men, Lilandra appeared in the 1990s animated television series third season during its Phoenix and Dark Phoenix Saga's where she was voiced by actor Camilla Scott.

  • In Marvel: Ultimate Alliance, Lilandra appeared in the video game where she was voiced by actor Marabina Jaimes.
