Native American Scientist

The Native American scientist.

This Native American scientific genius demanded the return of the land upon which Metropolis was built to his people, or else he would destroy the city. He was not taken seriously by anyone at the Daily Planet, so he returned to his undersea laboratory just offshore of the city. Lois Lane followed him, hoping to get a story, and was captured and held prisoner (as was typical for her, it seems). The scientist had plugged dozens of electrical cables into the ocean floor, and when he flipped the switch on his generator-like machine, electrical impulses flowing through these cables started an earthquake. Superman, tracking the shockwaves to their origin in the scientist's undersea lab, burst in, and while he was busy freeing Lois the scientist attempted to escape by speedboat. He didn't get very far before Superman caught up to him and apprehended him.

Japoteur Leader

The Japanese agent poised to open the bomb bay doors..

Working undercover in some sort of official or bureaucratic position in Metropolis, this bespectacled Japanese man was the leader of the "Japoteurs." He and two of his men stowed away inside missile casings which were loaded onto the world's largest bomber plane during its maiden voyage. They knocked out the pilots and took control of the plane, planning to fly it back to Tokyo. They also captured Lois Lane who had stowed away on board. When Superman came to her rescue, the three Japanese agents, armed only with guns, were no match for the Man of Steel and were quickly overcome.

Nazi Commander

The Nazi commander.
The Nazi commander in his ceremonial attire.

The officer in charge of a small base of Nazi troops in the jungle. He was a large, physically imposing bald man wearing a monocle. He was often seen in white robes and a mask with horns on it, posing as the high priest of the local tribe of natives. His plan was to obtain the location of an Allied fleet of battleships so that German U-boats could sink them. To this end, he shot down the plane carrying Lois Lane and Lieutenant Flemming, killing Flemming in the process and taking Lois prisoner in order to force her to give up the location of the fleet (with his dying act, Flemming had entrusted the secret documents to Lois, who hid them). In order to make her talk, the Commander had her tied to a stake in the village square and threatened to burn her alive unless she told him what he wanted to know.

Ultimately, one of the natives found the documents where Lois had hid them, and the Commander decided to burn Lois anyway. Conveniently, Clark Kent was at that very moment flying overhead in another plane. His pilot spotted Flemming's downed aircraft, so Clark parachuted down into the jungle. Transforming into Superman, he hurriedly rescued Lois and defeated the Nazi Commander and his men. Lois then used the Nazis' own radio to turn the tables on them, giving Allied bombers the location of the German submarines, which were then sunk. As for the Commander himself, his fate is unknown although it is likely he was taken prisoner (although he was actually last seen running away and he is never shown being caught).

Clark's Pilot

Clark's pilot.

This Allied fighter pilot offered to fly Clark Kent out to search for the missing Lois Lane. He was the one who spotted both Flemming's plane and the nearby native village with bonfires burning. He and Clark then parted ways after Clark parachuted from the plane.
