Longfangs are a species that appeared in Bionicle (Generation 1).

History

The Brotherhood of Makuta used liquid Protodermis and Viruses to create the Longfang species as part of their mission to create Rahi to inhabit the Matoran Universe. (BIONICLE: Makuta's Guide to the Universe, p.63)

Longfangs emigrated to Metru Nui and settled into a network of tunnels beneath the Archives in Onu-Metru. When the Great Cataclysm devastated the Archives and caused many of the Longfangs' prey species to flee onto the surface of Metru Nui, the Longfangs were forced to follow them. These Longfangs remained on the surface of Metru Nui even after the recolonization of the city by the Matoran of Mata Nui, much to the annoyance of Turaga Dume, who asked the Rahaga to capture the wild Longfangs. However, the Rahaga refused, arguing that the Longfangs had since become part of the natural environment of Metru Nui in their absence. (BIONICLE World, p.31)

When the Great Spirit Robot was critically damaged in the Battle of Bara Magna, the surviving Longfangs emigrated from the Matoran Universe to Spherus Magna. (Official Greg Discussion)

Overview

Like all Rahi created by the Brotherhood of Makuta, Longfangs are biomechanical creatures whose bodies were composed of both organic and protodermic elements. Longfangs are large reptilian Rahi that average around seven feet in length and have short, powerful jaws lined with multiple rows of sharp teeth. Longfangs prefer to prey on Stone Rats, but will sometimes attack larger creatures if driven by hunger or if they see an opportunity for an easy kill. (BIONICLE World, p.31)
