Biography
Pre-Crisis
Lord Satanis was a powerful humanoid being from one million years in the future where he lived on Earth and came to be a powerful sorcerer. In that age, the world was ruled by the tyrannical sorcerer Ambra who came to use the Runestone of Merlin to hold dominion over all. This was until Lord Satanis sought the power for himself and made a claim for the stone. Ambra was killed but his dying act was to send the Runestone back through time beyond the grasp of anyone else. To control the throne, Satanis took Ambra's ambitious daughter Syrene as his wife where together they ruled the planet with an iron fist. Secretly though, he sought to attain the powers of temporal travel in order to journey into the distant past so that he could find and claim the Runestone for himself. His wife had similar plans where she also went back through the gates of time into the modern day where Syrene sought out Superman who was said to be the vessel for the mystical stone's power. Post-Flashpoint
Following the Flashpoint, a new version of reality was created with a different history of events.

Personality and attributes
A noted tyrant, those that disobeyed his imperial commands were said to die a horrible death whilst those living under his wrathful rule envied the eternal dead. (Action Comics v1 #527)

His absolute control was tied to the use of the Runestone that was an all-powerful mystical gem that was said to had given Merlin the Mystic his command over sorcery. (Action Comics v1 #527)
