- Lucy Lane was created by Otto Binder and Curt Swan where she made her first appearance in Superman's Pal Jimmy Olsen v1 #36 (April, 1959).

- In Supergirl, Lucy Lane was introduced into the cast in the third episode where she was portrayed by actor Jenna Dewan Tatum. She was the sister of Lois Lane and shown to be an ex-girlfriend of Jimmy Olsen where she went to National City in order to mend their relationship. Lucy was shown to be a Major in the Judge Advocate General (JAG) Corps in the United States Army where she was assigned as 'trial counsel' (prosecutor). She assisted her father General Sam Lane with bringing in legal documents to allow his detachment in the military to commandeer operations of the Department of Extranormal Operations to allow Supergirl to be used to test the Red Tornado android. Her father was shown to disapprove of her relationship with Jimmy Olsen as he did not believe him worthy for his daughter.
