Macbeth, Lady

Lady Macbeth was the wife of Macbeth, who had great ambitions and was willing to do anything, no matter how dark, to elevate her husband and herself. However, after she was responsible for murder after murder to pave her husband's way to the throne of Scotland, she became severely wracked with guilt and eventually committed suicide.

Comments

Lady Macbeth is nowhere near the same person as Gruoch, the historical Macbeth's wife. She was entirely a Shakespeare invention.
