Biography
Maki Zenin (Japanese: 禪ぜん院いん真ま希き, Hepburn: Zen'in Maki?) was a female human born as the eldest daughter of Ogi Zenin where she had a younger twin sister named Mai Zenin. She was born as a member of one of the three prominent families of Jujutsu Sorcerers namely the Zenin Family (禪ぜん院いん家け Zenin Ke?).
As a young student from Jujutsu High, she was tasked with helping to mentor the nervous teenager Yuta Okkotsu by Satoru Gojo as he wanted to train the boy so that he could help stop the curse of the undead girl Rika who was attacking everybody chasing Yuta. Early on, Maki came to mock Yuta for his weakness for being too passive and believed him to be the often subject of bullying. Although Yuta was unable to fight, he was assigned to work with Maki in exorcising a curse. When Maki was wounded, she asked Yuta what was his real desire to which he responded that he only wanted to enjoy a good life rather than remain alone. Maki encouraged him to fight for such rights which allowed her partner to control Rika for a brief period of time to escape with her. In the next three months, Maki had become Yuta's mentor in swordplay so that he could also fight alone much to her comrade's surprise. When one of Satoru Gojo's friends, Suguru Geto, appears in Jujutsu High, it was revealed that Maki is a rejected member from the Zen'in clan and mocked which angered Yuta. After the visit, Maki told Yuta her hatred towards her clan with Yuta agreeing to fight alongside her and he ended up comforting her. Geto once again appears in Jujutsu High to take Rika's Curse and ended up taking down all the students. This led to Yuta taking control of Rika to save his comrades resulting in Geto's defeat though he managed to escape in his weakened state.
A year later, Maki approaches first-years Megumi Fushiguro and Nobara Kugisaki, questioning them why are they unhappy. From a far distance, Panda whispers to her that their classmate Yuji Itadori recently died. This shocks Maki, causing her to lash out at Panda and Toge for not telling her earlier. Regardless of that, she requests the first-years to consider participating in the Kyoto Goodwill Event, explaining the overall structure of the event to them. Motivated to become stronger for the sake of their fallen friend, Megumi and Nobara accept Maki's request to join the Kyoto Goodwill Event. Maki along with Toge and Panda, help train both Megumi and Nobara before the event, she then challenges Megumi so he can improve his close-range fighting capabilities. Later when Megumi talks with the others about how he should carry weapons without occupying his hands, Toge points out that Megumi manages to figure out a way with his shadow. Later, when principal Yoshinobu Gakuganji came to Tokyo, Aoi Todo and Maki's twin sister, Mai Zenin were brought along as well. They provoked Megumi and Nobara, who were sent by Maki to do errands. While Megumi confronted Aoi Todo, Mai started to attack Nobara. The second-years manage to intervene these fights. Mai and Maki mock each other for both their lack of talent. As Maki continues to provoke Mai, this allows Nobara to sneak attack the latter, putting her in a chokehold. Afterwards, Maki explains to Nobara about her family situation. Nobara then grows to admire Maki as she remaining strong even though the latter's family had disowned her.
When the team from Kyoto Jujutsu High arrives, Maki teased Nobara's eagerness on the prospect of traveling to Kyoto. She and Panda also disparagingly commented about Satoru's habit of being late. After Yuji was back with the students, the first and second years held a conference about the team battle. The second years asked about the skills of Yuji, and Maki asked him to confront with Aoi Todo. When the event starts, Maki travels with the other Tokyo students. When they encounter Aoi, Maki splits from the group with Megumi. After splitting up, Maki talks with the others about how the Kyoto students are trying to kill Yuji. Maki and Megumi then head back and encounter Noritoshi Kamo and Kasumi Miwa. Maki takes on Miwa, but asks why Miwa wants to fight alone. Miwa tells her why she wants to take on Maki alone to prove her worth as a Jujutsu Sorcerer, to which Maki tells her that she would not hold back. As Maki takes on Miwa, Miwa notices that Maki is stronger then what she was led to believe by Maki's twin sister Mai. With Miwa struggling to counter Maki's assault, Maki easily distracts Miwa and manages to get close to Miwa and throws her off, while also taking her sword. Maki then leaves while taking Miwa's sword with her. Maki encounters her sister Mai, and the two start to fight. Maki easily counters all of Mai's shots and closes the distance between the two. Once Mai fires all six shots from her revolver, Maki charges at Mai. Maki plans to make sure that Mai can't reload, but is shocked when Mai fires a seventh shot. Maki manages to catch the bullet with her bare hand and disarm Mai. A defeated Mai asks why Maki left their home, and Maki says that she already knows. Mai explains how she would be fine with serving the Zenin clan as a servant if Maki was with her, to which Maki replies that she would have hated herself if she did that. Maki then apologizes to Mai and leaves. When intruders invade the site of the event, Maki notices that a screen is being placed over the site they are at. Maki then takes on Hanami along with Megumi, after Toge and Noritoshi are defeated. Maki takes on Hanami with Playful Cloud and manages to send Hanami flying. Maki continues to attack Hanami with Megumi's support but is forced to fight Hanami alone when Hanami places a cursed energy feeding seed onto Megumi. When Hanami manages to catch Maki, Maki stops Megumi from attacking since she senses they will be switching out. Suddenly Aoi and Yuji show up and rescue the two. Maki is then taken out of the site along with Megumi, by Panda. After the intruders have been dealt with, Maki attends a meeting where they all agree with continuing the event. Maki then play a game of baseball with the others, where she pitches for her team. When Aoi is up to bat, Maki beans him and is complimented for it.
After the Kyoto Goodwill Event, Maki is nominated by Mei Mei and Aoi Todo for a promotion to a grade 1 sorcerer. On October 31, Maki is with Naobito Zenin and Nobara at Shibuya Mark City Restaurant Avenue Entrance when they meet up with Akari Nitta. Maki then listens as Akari informs them about the situation and how they will be on standby for now. Later when the citizens are attacked by mutated humans, Maki along with Nobara and Naobito head into the curtain to save the people. While dealing with the mutated humans, Maki is informed that something has happened to Kiyotaka Ijichi. Maki thinks about how something feels off, and tells Nobara to take Akari to Kiyotaka's location since the assistance directors are critical and that she will deal with the mutated humans. Maki and Naobito would meet up with Kento Nanami, and then three head to the Shibuya Station. Along the way, Naobito tries to get Maki to leave, but Maki turns the table and says that Naobito has been drinking. When the three encounter a cursed spirit, Maki watches as Naobito takes on the spirit. When the cursed spirit, Dagon, releases a torrent of water, Maki manages to get above the water and thinks about how she would have been a goner if she didn't save herself. After Naobito manages to distract Dagon, Maki and Nanami join in the fight. Dagon manages to defend itself from the three, while Maki thinks about how humiliating it was to be saved by Naobito during the clash. When Naobito comments about how Dagon is defending itself, Maki joins in as the three overwhelm Dagon with speed based attacks and force Dagon to retreat.
Maki along with Naobito and Nanami are suddenly trapped within Dagon's Domain Expansion, and Maki is instantly hit by the Domain's sure-hit technique. After figuring out what to do with each, Dagon uses his Death Swarm attack which Nanami advises Maki on how to survive. After Naobito and Nanami are dealt with, Dagon attacks Maki while calling her weak. Maki quickly returns and tells Dagon that he should have killed her with one attack if he is calling her weak. Dagon says that he will deal with Maki the same way as the other two, which makes Maki think about how she should have gotten Playful Cloud from Megumi before coming here. Suddenly Megumi breaks into the territory and gives Maki the Playful Cloud cursed tool. Maki then uses the tool to fight Dagon and manages to wound it. Maki continues to fight Dagon with Naobito, but retreats when Megumi creates an exit. Maki makes it to the portal but is surprised when Toji Fushiguro comes through it. Toji forcibly takes Playful Cloud from her, a feat that makes Maki wonder about the strength that Toji has. As Maki watches Toji fight against Dagon, Maki wonders aloud who Toji is, with Naobito responding that Toji is just a ghost. Maki is then shocked when Toji sharpens Playful Cloud, and brutally stabs Dagon repeatedly, exorcising him. Maki marvels about how Toji was able to take care of Dagon by himself. Distracted by Toji suddenly grabbing Megumi and fleeing through a window, she fails to notice the arrival of Jogo, who mourns his fallen comrade. Maki watches as the vengeful spirit turns to them, effortlessly advancing on Nanami and engulfing him in a blast of fire from his palm. Before she can even finish calling out for Nanami, Jogo moves towards Maki and immolates her from the chest up with a flick of the wrist, causing her to fall unconscious.

Personality and attributes
In appearance, Maki Zenin was a tall athletic young woman with golden eyes and long black hair that was normally tied into a ponytail.
It was shown that she was a very headstrong and straightforward person who tended to be quite blunt in her dealings with others.
As a non-sorcerer, she was constantly mistreated so she eventually expelled herself from the Zenin clan. She aspired to be a great jujutsu sorcerer to spite her family.
Maki Zenin was the daughter of Ogi Zenin (禪院ぜんいん扇おうぎ Zen'in Ōgi?) of the Zenin Family (禪ぜん院いん家け Zen'in Ke?) that were a notable clan of jujutsu sorcerers. She had a younger twin sister by the name of Mai Zenin (禪ぜん院いん真ま依い Zen'in Mai?) where the siblings used to be close to one another.
Powers and abilities
Originally, Maki Zenin was born with almost no Cursed Energy with this being so low that it was comparable to an average non-sorcerer. In fact, she was unable to see curses without the use of her glasses that were imbued with cursed energy.
Officially, she was labelled as a Grade 4 sorcerer but this was not reflective of her true ability in battle. In fact, her ranking was largely due to her family who intentionally stalled her promotion to the higher ranks. Such was her talent that it was said that she could easily exorcise grade 2 curses by herself.
