Biography
Origin
Baran Flinders
Mammoth first appeared as one half of the Flinders siblings alongside his sister Selinda Shimmer, joining Doctor Light’s new team of villains known as the Fearsome Five. During their first clash with the Teen Titans, Mammoth was introduced as the team’s powerhouse, displaying extraordinary strength and durability in battle. He fought with brutal efficiency, smashing through obstacles and engaging multiple Titans in close combat at once. His raw might made him a constant threat, forcing the Titans to focus their efforts on containing him while also fending off the rest of the Fearsome Five. Despite his overwhelming physicality, Mammoth was ultimately forced into retreat with his team when the battle turned against them. (New Teen Titans v1 #3)

Overview
Personality and attributes
In appearance, Mammoth was a colossal, heavy-set metahuman male of Australian descent who stood as an intimidating mountain of dense muscle. He possessed a thick, square jaw, a wide brow with small blue eyes, and an exceptionally wide torso that exuded raw, animalistic power. His head featured a distinctively long, wild mane of bright red hair that connected to a dense beard framing his neck and trailing down onto his shoulders. His standard criminal combat uniform was minimalist, consisting of a sleeveless blue wrestling-style singlet designed to accommodate his massive upper body without restricting his movement. He completed this look with matching blue wrist bands, a heavy metallic belt buckle, and a pair of dark, calf-high combat boots built to support his immense physical weight. Mammoth completely eschewed traditional superhero masks or tactical chest armor, preferring to leave his towering, muscular limbs bare to project an aura of brute, unyielding ferocity. (New Teen Titans v1 #3)
Mammoth was depicted as loyal to his sister Shimmer and to the Fearsome Five as a whole, though he was not particularly intelligent or independent. He preferred action over planning, throwing himself into combat with little hesitation and often relying on others to provide direction. His brutish nature meant he was easily manipulated by stronger personalities like Psimon, but his unwavering dedication to his allies made him dependable in battle. Despite his simplicity, he was shown to have a strong bond with Shimmer, who often acted as his guiding influence. (New Teen Titans v1 #3)
Powers and abilities
Physiologically, Mammoth was a Metahuman whose body granted him superhuman strength, durability, and endurance. Mammoth possessed immense superhuman strength, high-tier physical stamina, and profound durability derived entirely from his natural metahuman biology. His muscles allowed him to perform feats far beyond human limits, such as tearing through steel barriers, lifting enormous weights, and overpowering even the most physically capable opponents. Mammoth's raw muscular power allowed him to easily uproot mature trees, smash through reinforced bank vaults, and trade heavy physical blows with high-tier powerhouses. Baran's dense tissue and reinforced body structure provided him with resistance against energy blasts, physical strikes, and environmental hazards that would incapacitate normal humans. His dense skin and hardened skeletal structure granted him absolute protection against standard human weaponry, high-velocity artillery shells, and massive blunt-force trauma. Furthermore, Mammoth's physical power, threshold for pain, and kinetic output scaled exponentially whenever he entered a state of intense, unbridled rage. Despite his overwhelming physical attributes, he possessed a distinctly underdeveloped intellect and lacked any formal martial arts training, leaving him to rely entirely on basic brawling tactics and structural demolitions to overwhelm his targets. These traits made Mammoth one of the most formidable physical adversaries faced by the Teen Titans. (New Teen Titans v1 #3)
