Biography
Maxwell Markham
This saw him becoming a professional wrestler where he was a brutal fighter within the ring. Around 11 years ago, his fame drew the attention of J. Jonah Jameson who decided to attend a match. Jameson though was shocked at the level of violence performed by the wrestler and deemed him a menace. As a result, he decided to publish his views in the Daily Bugle where the editorial demanded an investigation into the wrestler's activities. This resulted in the wrestling commission investigating the man where their findings found the wrestler to had engaged in lawless activity. As such, his license came to be revoked and the man's career as a wrestler ended with his career being over as a result. Markham was ruined where he blamed Jameson and came to swear revenge against the newspaper editor. (Amazing Spider-Man v1 #140)
At some point, he encountered the Jackal who provided him a power boosting exo-skeleton where this special outfit that resembled a bear. This saw him taking the name of Grizzly where he looked to use his newfound power to get revenge against Jameson. (Amazing Spider-Man v1 #140) As Grizzly, he attacked the offices of the Daily Bugle in order to get his revenge against Jameson. This saw him throwing the head of the newspaper out a window though he was saved by Spider-Man. It was then that Grizzly battled the hero and overpowered him though the villain ultimately spared his foe's life. Feeling he accomplished his mission, he then departed and returned to the secret laboratory of the Jackal. (Amazing Spider-Man v1 #139)

After meeting the Jackal, he came to be provided a power boosting exo-skeleton where this special outfit increased his strength and endurance to superhuman levels. (Amazing Spider-Man v1 #140) Within his costume, he as said to had stood almost 9 feet tall. He gained sheer animal strength that made him superhumanly strong. Such as his own endurance that he was able to take powerful hits from superhumans and be unfazed by them. (Amazing Spider-Man v1 #139)
