Biography

Medea was the child of a ruler of a distant land who had little time for his offspring. When she was twelve years old, he decided to marry her to a neighbouring king in order to secure an alliance. Her suitor was a sixty year old man and after the marriage as he laid in bed with her, Medea killed him and ran away. From that day on, she developed a fierce independent streak and would not tolerate anyone controlling her. During this time, she was approached by the dark cult known as the Blacktongues who's promise of her drew her into their ranks. Whilst among them, she became one of the most powerful of sorcerors amongst the followers of the dark Titaness Hecate. However, she eventually came to realize that this had come at a price as she was a thrall to Hecate. Feeling that she had simply exchanged one master for another, she abandoned the group and fled whereupon she was considered a traitor by the dark cult. She decided to hunt down the Blacktongues and kill them wherever she found them as part of her quest and she knew a great many secrets of that order such as their attempts at killing the daughter of King Licemedes, Alceme who later married King Jason.

On the Isle of Colchis, she discovered that Alceme had been slain by a Blacktongue assassin. After hearing of this, she travelled as quickly as she could in order to kill more members of the cult. Confronting one of their numbers, she attempted to cast a powerful spell to kill her opponent but was overwhelmed by the dark magic which left her unconscious. At the time, her enemy had summoned Tartaran fiends to finally kill Medea but she was saved by the intervention of King Jason and Hercules. After learning of her, Jason offered her to join his quest and invited her on the Argo stating that he would aid her in destroying the Blacktongues. Coming to the conclusion that his quest to revive his deceased wife Alceme would draw in the Blacktongues, she accepted though stated her worry that she had little control over her dark powers. When Jason insisted, she agreed to place wards in her chambers to protect the crew from her powers and later travelled to the Argo.

Once the ship set sail, Jason spoke to Medea and learnt much more about the Blacktongues in the process. After arriving on Delphi, she displayed distrust in the Oracle and told Jason to be weary when he approached the seer. When he returned, Medea told him that she was certain that the Oracle had not told him everything and that she would meditate on the messages he was given in order to provide further insight. She later informed Jason of why King Licemdes did not inform Jason of the prophecy at Delphi and stated that it was because the ruler of Myncea had believed the Blacktongues eliminated. Furthermore, she cautioned Jason about the presence of Blacktongues everywhere.

Overview

Personality and attributes

She had a fiercely independent streak that came as a result of being controlled during her childhood. After her father wedded her to a sixty year old neighbouring king, Medea slayed the man as she did not wish to ever be controlled again. This led to her easily falling under the domination of the Blacktongues and their promises of power. But she eventually realized that she had become that twelve year old girl again but instead of a sixty year old man laying in bed with her, it was a Titaness. This led to her abandoning the Blacktongues and also seeking their destruction.
