Biography

Michael

Michael was a unique human-Wraith hybrid who unknowingly served as the very first test subject for Dr. Carson Beckett's experimental Iratus bug retrovirus. He awoke in the Atlantis infirmary with total amnesia, possessing no memories of his identity, past, or purpose on the base. The senior Atlantis expedition staff fabricated a false backstory, claiming he was "Lieutenant Michael Kenmore," an endearing, boyishly handsome young military officer who had lost his memories due to injuries sustained while heroically saving his team from the Wraith. He was placed under the psychological care of Dr. Kate Heightmeyer and the social guidance of Teyla Emmagan to help him integrate into human life. However, Michael grew increasingly anxious due to recurring, horrific nightmares about being a Wraith, a native ability to instinctively read and comprehend highly complex Wraith schematics, and a palpable, aggressive hostility directed at him by Ronon Dex. Guided by his growing suspicion, he broke into secure medical logs and discovered a recording detailing the truth: he was a genetically suppressed Wraith who had been forcefully transformed against his will. Filled with immense rage and a profound sense of psychological betrayal, his latent alien instincts re-ignited, prompting him to assault guards, take Teyla hostage, and escape the facility to seek out his original species. Overview

Personality and attributes

In appearance, Michael was a young adult male in his late twenties or early thirties who initially possessed an entirely conventional human aesthetic. He had short, boyishly handsome light brown hair, standard fair skin, and sharp facial features that displayed a range of vulnerable, anxious, and unpredictable emotions. While living among the Atlantis expedition team, he wore the standard military uniform of the facility, which consisted of a dark, long-sleeved tactical zip-up uniform jacket with gray shoulder panels, an expedition patch on the sleeve, and matching utility trousers. However, as the experimental retrovirus began to naturally break down inside his system, his biological form underwent a visible, unsettling physical regression back toward his true heritage. His skin lost its warm human color, transitioning into a distinctly pale, sickly greenish-white tint, while his eyes took on a darker, much more intense and brooding gaze. Following his transformation into a human, he was given false memories and given the name of Lieutenant Michael Kenmore. (Episode: Michael)

Powers and abilities

Michael possessed an impressive baseline of physical traits and emerging telepathic attributes resulting from his unique, unstable hybrid physiology. While functioning in his human state, his physical performance metrics and motor responses were off the charts, granting him a level of speed, agility, and muscular endurance that far exceeded a normal human soldier's limits. He demonstrated high proficiency in close-quarters hand-to-hand combat, utilizing his physical power to easily overpower armed military personnel during his escape. His mind retained a hidden, subconscious repository of Wraith engineering and scientific knowledge, enabling him to instantly translate and manipulate advanced alien databases without prior human training. Furthermore, he possessed a dormant telepathic connection to the Wraith collective consciousness, which manifested as highly vivid, prophetic nightmares and an innate ability to sense the nearby presence of his true species. As the human retrovirus weakened, he began to re-develop the predatory feeding organ located in the palm of his right hand, a biological trait required to drain the life force of human prey.

He displayed a greater ability to mind link with Wraithkin than most Wraith. While reverting for the first time to his Wraith form, he proved capable of taking control of the mind of Teyla Emmagan when other Wraith, even Queens, required Teyla to link with them first. However, he controlled of Teyla appeared to be more of a hypnotic command rather than a full possession. Two years later, after becoming a Hybrid, he was capable of linking with Teyla's mind over 10,000 light-years, farther than Wraith could even communicate with each other and implant a vision in her mind while disguised as Kanaan. Presumably His ability to reach out in this manner came from his enhanced abilities as a Hybrid though Lastlight suggests that a bond had formed between himself and Teyla. (SGA: The Kindred)
