- Mongo the Magnificent was created by George C. Chesbro where he made his first appearance in Shadow of a Broken Man (1977).
- Writer Tom DeFalco made a homage to the character in the form of Chesbro, a genius who is afflicted with dwarfism who served as the majordomo of the crime boss Black Tarantula who appeared in Amazing Spider-Man v1 #419 (November, 1996).
