Biography
Pre-Crisis
Morris Edelstein
After he won his first TV station in a game of poker, Morris Edelstein changed his name to Morgan Edge because he was ashamed of his lower-class Jewish background and kept the details of his past closely guarded. (Action Comics v1 #468)
Superman was made more suspicious of Edge when a bank of hi-tech computers installed by Galaxy generated a rampaging creature of electrical energy. Although this had nothing to do with Edge's Apokoliptian superiors or Intergang cohorts, Superman barged into his apartment and throttled him in order to extract the location of the computer bank. (Superman v1 #244) Edge then made Superman a personal target. One such scheme involved gifting Lois Lane with a typewriter which was rigged to type up obituaries for specific people ahead of the times of their deaths, who were all secretly Intergang hit targets. The true objective in this was to spook Lois into calling Superman to analyze the typewriter, expecting that Superman would notice the one key that the typewriter never used and press it out of curiosity. This would have triggered a powerful Apokoliptian explosive designed to be sufficiently potent to kill Superman. Thinking better of his reflexive instinct to hit the one un-pressed key, Superman analyzed the typewriter with X-ray vision. This also set off the timer on the explosive, but Superman managed to remove the typewriter to the upper atmosphere, where it detonated harmlessly. (Superman's Girl Friend, Lois Lane v1 #115) Edge later gave air-time to Dave Stevens, the Daily Planet's first African-American reporter, to voice injunctions for the people of the city against The 100, believing that it would be in Intergang's best interests to give greater negative media exposure to the competition. Edge then had Intergang abduct Dave and bring him to the Happyland amusement park, which had been rigged by Desaad with torture-devices designed for Superman. Superman took the bait and was painfully physically distorted by the funhouse hall of mirrors until Lois and Dave Stevens fought off their captors. (Superman's Girl Friend, Lois Lane v1 #116) When NASA astronaut Colonel Sean Carter went adrift in outer space and Superman was prevented from saving him by a telepathic block, Edge used the media at his disposal to besmirch the Man of Steel's reputation. (Action Comics v1 #408)
Morgan Edge bullied Clark, demanding he take an assignment in Chile. What he did not know was that Superman had temporarily lost his powers, and was finding himself in his civilian identity. Clark refused the assignment, grabbed Edge's cigarette, and put it out. Edge was thrilled with Clark's newfound confidence, and gave him a raise. (Superman v1 #297) Lois told Edge she was worried about Clark, who failed to appear in court to testify against Inter-Gang leader Max Danner. Morgan said he'd probably gone chicken, but Lois assured him Clark had showed a world of bravery lately, and she worried that Inter-Gang had kidnapped him. Unknown to her Clark decided to spend the week living only as Superman. Clark solved his problems with organized crime, and returned to work as his usual milquetoast self. Edge was comfortable bossing around Clark like he used to do so. (Superman v1 #299)
During the sweeps week, and Morgan Edge sent Clark Kent to Haneyville to investigate elements that had gone out of control. He told Clark ratings were important, and his job was on the line. Clark, as Superman, solved the problem, and Edge was pleased when Clark returned with an interview with Haneyville hero Metamorpho, who helped him save the town. (DC Comics Presents v1 #40)

- In Smallville, Morgan Edge appeared in the setting of the live-action television series where he was initially portrayed by actor Rutger Hauer and later by actor Patrick Bergin.
- In Justice League, Morgan Edge appeared in the setting of the animated television series set in the DC Animated Universe where he was seen in the episode "Secret Society" Pt. 1 and was voiced uncredited by actor Brian George.
- In Supergirl, Morgan Edge appeared in the setting of the live-action television series third season set in the Arrowverse where he was portrayed by actor Adrian Pasdar.
- In Superman & Lois, Morgan Edge appeared in the setting of the live-action television series where he was portrayed by actor Adam Rayner. This version was actually a Kryptonian named Tal-Rho who had assumed a human identity to hide on Earth which he had been sent to conquer when his pod landed on Earth in the 1980s. He landed in the United Kingdom where his powers caused him to be hunted down and experimented on until one day he managed to escape.
