Biography
Karate Kid
Mr. Miyagi was a male human born on June 9, 1925 in Okinawa, Japan. He came to learn fishing and karate from his father who was a fisherman in the village. During that time, he came to work for the richest man in the village whose son Sato cam to be Miyagi's best friend. Miyagi's father was noted to had also taught Sato karate at the request of the boy's father. Around this time, Miyagi came to fall in love with Yukie who had been arranged to marry Sato. This led to a chain of events that caused the ties between best friends to sour. Eventually, it culminated in Sato challenging Miyagi to a fight to the death after being dishonored by the love he shared with Yukie. Rather than fight his best friend, Miyagi decided to emigrate to the United States.
He would arrive in Hawaii as a teenager where he worked as a farm laborer in the Hawaiian cane fields. Whilst there, he met a woman who was also a farm laborer where the two would fall in love and eventually marry. At the onset of World War II, he an his wife came to be interned in the Manzanar Japanese-American internment camp. In that time, Miyagi came to join the U.S. Army where he was a member of the 442nd Regimental Combat Team that was historically the most highly decorated regime and came to receive the Medal of Honor.

Personality and attributes
In his home village, he once fell in love with Yukie (ゆきえ) who shared similar feelings with Miyagi. However, Yukie was betrothed to Miyagi's best friend Sato.
The loss of his wife and child whilst he was away was something that haunted him for much of his life.
Powers and abilities
Miyagi was a human being who from a young age came to be trained in martial arts by his father. This saw him learning Miyagi-Do Karate (宮城道, "the way of Miyagi") that was a peaceful balanced martial art which originated in Okinawa, Japan. The basis of the style was said to defend oneself and others.
Notes
- Mr. Miyagi was created by Robert Mark Kamen where he was portrayed by actor Pat Morita in the setting of the Karate Kid universe.
- Screenwriter Robert Mark Kamen stated that Mr. Miyagi was named after Chōjun Miyagi, the founder of the Goju-ryu karate style.
- In The Karate Kid Part II, his name was written as 宮城成義 which when translated meant Nariyoshi Miyagi in the Cobra Kai television series.
- In The Next Karate Kid, he was named as Keisuke Miyagi.
