Biography
Mumm-Ra was an ancient male undead being who was the source of ever-living evil on Third Earth and was a devotee to the Ancient Spirits of Evil.

He was known by the epithet of Mumm-Ra the Ever-Living.
Powers and abilities
When Mumm-Ra decides to engage in battle directly, he recites the magical words that transform him into a more vigorous form. He typically does this within his Black Pyrammid where he speaks the following words:
- “Ancient spirits of evil, transform this decayed form to Mumm-Ra, the Ever-Living!”
A stronger form could be taken on by him with this being called 'Mumm-Ra the All-Powerful' where this manifestation absorbed the entire power of the Ancient Spirits of Evil to become grander in size and strength.
His base of operations was a structure known as the Black Pyramid that had four obelisks surrounding it.

- Mumm-Ra was created by Tobin Wolf where he featured in the ThunderCats universe.
- During development, the villains name was being decided with Haim Saban suggested to use Mummia Raa (מומי רעה - A Bad Mummy in Hebrew) which was shortened to Mumm-Ra.

Television
- In ThunderCats, Mumm-Ra appeared as the main antagonist in the 1985 animated television series where he was voiced by actor Earl Hammond.
- In ThunderCats, Mumm-Ra appeared as the main antagonist in the 2011 animated television series where he was voiced by actor Robin Atkin Downes. This version had an added backstory of being an undead spirit of evil who served as the Ancient Spirits of Evil where centuries ago he commanded an empire of advanced technology and magic. In that time, he enslaved the ancestors of the ThunderCats and the other animal races with the cat people serving as his elite warriors. During that time, he forced these slave races to aid him in acquiring the four Powerstones that included the War Stone. the Tech Stone, the Spirit Stone and the Soul Stone. Entire worlds were ravaged in order to acquire these relics whereupon Mumm-Ra forged the Sword of Plun-Darr that was created from a star with its collapse causing the destruction of the entire Plun-Darr galaxy.
- In ThunderCats Roar, Mumm-Ra appeared as the main antagonist in the animated television series where he was voiced by actor Patrick Seitz. This version of the character came to wield his own weapon that was called the Doom Staff.
Comics
- In Thundercats: Origins - Heroes & Villains v1 #1 (2004), Mumm-Ra appeared in the comics published by Wildstorm Comics that showed an origin for the character. He was shown to had once been an ancient Egyptian man named Wahankh who was the ruling Pharaoh's most trust advisor. However, he decided to overthrow his ruler and instituted a coup whereby he each four magic runes to summon the Ancient Spirits of Evil for the first time. He asked them for power and they granted his wish whereby he intended to use this new found might to overthrow the Pharaoh and rule Egypt as a humble servant of the Ancient Spirits of Evil. Thus, he was infused with dark magic and became a powerful sorcerer who took the name of Mumm-Ra. He challenged the Pharaoh but came to be defeated by his ruler's son whereby they decided to entomb him alive in recognition for his years of loyal service. Trapped, Mumm-Ra begged the Ancient Spirits of Evil for their aid but they refused due to his failure. Instead, they commanded that he build four giant statues representing them within his pyramid with this being a task that would take 600 years after which they would give him the ability to become Mumm-Ra the Ever-Living with the power to defeat any Pharaoh.
