Biography
Nathan Spencer was a citizen of the Federal States of America where he was part of the FSA Armed Forces holding the rank of Major and was active during the time of the conflict with the Imperials. He lost ins arm to a grenade blast in the early years in the FSA and was thus assigned to the Tactical Arms and Security Committee Research & Development division. He thus became the first official test subject for the TASCs military grade level bionic technology and became the first Bionic Commando of the Special Ops branch. When TASC agent Joseph Gibson was captured by the Imperials during a recon, Spencer went behind enemy lines as part of a rescue operation that was planned to get Gibson out. After the success of the mission, Nathan Spencer not only rescued the target but stopped the Imperials newly activated weapons platform called the Albatross.
This led to him being celebrated as a war hero by the FSA and led to a high demand in the TASCs bionic program. When Joseph Gibson took command of the organization as the director, it began to glourish and many other operatives were enhanced in similar ways to Spencer. As he was the first Bionic Commando, Spencer became responsible for training the new operatives and underotok covert operations that were high risk. During Operation Blackout, Spencer failed to obey a direct order that led to him being dishonorable discharged as a result. He was convicted of treason court martialed and was sentenced to death for his crimes.
For the last five years, Nathan Spencer was on Death Row where he was awaiting execution. He was later temporarily reinstated due to the recent conflict in Ascension City.
Overview
Personality and attributes
Powers and abilities
One of the things that made Nathan Spencer a superb soldier was his Bionic Arm. This artificial limb was composed of lightweight materials that were composite of durable graphite and was powered by a replaceable hydrogen power micro fuel cell. A dueal use artificial limb replacement and grappling hook was in the arm which composed of a 20m (65ft) cabale that was fitted as standard. It was designed to be capable of grappling onto almost any surface and its functions allowed soldiers to function at a level that was far surpassing the ability of regular troops. This vastly increased the strength and maneuverability of the user.
The arm was different from regular prosthetics in that it was no mere replaceable appendage but was a fully integrated into the host's nervous sytem as it was connected to the spine and brain stem that was capable of not only processing but responding instantly to brain signals. This required no more thought or skill to operate than one had to do to their own limb and over time, the bionic troops were found to prefer the enhancement over their natural limbs.
This cybernetic piece of technology was the first piece in modern bionics and was successfully attached to a human host after being developed by the FSAs military intelligence agency TASC which was at the cost of over $500 million. The unexpected success in sudden field tests led to the development of other bionic limbs and body parts leading to the creation of TASC Special Ops troops which were the most feared forces in the battlefield around the world. Attempts to diplicate this technology by other nations were met with an insurmontable barrier which was the difficulty in creating an input/outpot system that was able to process the information quickly as the human brain.
On the field, the bionic arm was equipped to swing through the air as a fast means of travel or to navigate dangerous environments or to zip to surfaces in order to quickly move from place to place. It also allowed its user to scale tall buildings and rip down pieces of the surrounding environment in order to use them as weapons or shields. The arm also was capable of throwing large objects much farther than a normal human and was capable of melee combat with opponents or objects.
