Biography
Natlus was a male Atlantean and Lemurian hybrid born thousands of years ago among the underwater kingdoms of Earth. (Giant-Size Fantastic Four v2 #1)
Around 4,000 years ago, the surface world experienced devastation from the Athens War which was when a small population of biracial hybrids emerged within the undersea kingdoms. This group had long been marginalized where they had come to call for unity and equality during the reconstruction of the underwater cities. In this time, a persuasive voice emerged among one of their kind in a figure known as Natlus. Those who could not be swayed by his oratory skills were soon crushed by the force he was able to wield. Through his mastery of magic, he was able to force himself onto the throne of Atlantis and rule as its king. He came to be the first king of the united Atlantis-Lemurian confederacy where he ruled for nearly a century. In this time, he had attempted to unite the Atlantean and Lemurian peoples in order to make them one people thus making them united instead of a divided race. However, the houses that held sway over both Atlantis and Lemuria rejected his efforts where they worked a slow, long and bitter campaign to return to the old ways. Fearing the progress he heralded, they could not accept the changes planned by King Natlus. Thus, they worked to turn the people against him where fear led to rebellion. Defeated, Natlus was placed in stasis and trapped within the Romanche Trench in a tomb where both Atlantean as well as Lemurian sigils warned against his release. In the aftermath, both underwater people attempted to erase him from history with future kings warning that if Natlus was ever freed then he would seek to conquer the deep sea kingdoms before turning his attention to the surface. Overview
Personality and attributes
In appearance, Natlus was a large muscular blue-skinned Atlantean male with long black hair arranged in a pony-tail. The term 'Imperius Rex' actually stemmed from the reign of Natlus where it was an old saying that referred to him as the Empire King. (Giant-Size Fantastic Four v2 #1)
He believed in uniting the people under force where they would be ruled by him. Initially, he looked to only achieve this among the underwater kingdoms but by the modern age he believed his plans for unity should be extended to the surface as well. (Giant-Size Fantastic Four v2 #1)
If given the chance, it was said that he would most certainly seek to regain his power once again. In his experience, it was fear of himself that provoked a response from Natlus to act using fore. (Giant-Size Fantastic Four v2 #1)
He found the language of surface dwelling humans to be guttural. Even when translated, he found them to be ramblings of an unserious people. (Giant-Size Fantastic Four v2 #1)

Powers and abilities
Natlus was an Atlantean/Lemurian hybrid thus possessing traits of both aquatic races. His body was able to withstand the pressures of the ocean floor easily allowing him to deal with superhuman strikes made against him. In addition, his endurance was enough that he could fire powerful flame based attacks such as those performed by the Human Torch. (Giant-Size Fantastic Four v2 #1)
It was shown that he was capable of wielding magic as well. He came to be a master of Lemurian thaumaturgy. Among the spells he could use was one that allowed surface dwelling air-breathers to survive deep underwater. (Giant-Size Fantastic Four v2 #1)
He was fluent in a long-dormant Lemurian/Atlantean hybrid dialect. Simple spells could be used to translate languages that were unknown to him. (Giant-Size Fantastic Four v2 #1)
Among his greatest of abilities was the power to control and solidify water to achieve various feats. (Giant-Size Fantastic Four v2 #1)
In times long ago, he forced himself to the throne of Atlantis and came to rule it as their king. This saw him being the first king of the united Atlantis-Lemurian confederacy until he was deposed. (Giant-Size Fantastic Four v2 #1)
