The Nogitsune was one of thirteen different kinds of Kitsune where it represented the void. (Episode: Silverfinger)

The jar containing the Nogitsune was then buried at the site of the Nemeton tree whose power kept the spirit trapped for centuries. (Episode: The Divine Move)

After the Nemeton was cut down, the Nogitsune was freed from its imprisonment and went out to seek a host vessel. (Episode: The Divine Move)

Powers and abilities

The Nogitsune was one of the legendary Kitsune where the thirteen types of creatures represented different elements such as celestial, wild, ocean, thunder whilst this version embodied the void. (Episode: Silverfinger) It was said that the Nogitsune was not a person one could fight as this was only a form it took. Instead, it was a spirit that had taken the shape of a human. (Episode: The Divine Move) They were capable of being summoned in order into the physical world and could take possession of a host body. (Episode: The Fox and the Wolf)

The nature of the spirit meant that it drew its power from pain and tragedy, strife and chaos. (Episode: Silverfinger)

Letharia Vulpina (Wolf Lichen) was a noted poison to the Nogitsune that was created from the site of where another of its kind had bled. (Episode: Letharia Vulpina) The Shugendo scrolls were known to contain ways of exorcising a Nogitsune from its host. (Episode: Echo House)
