History
The Oannes Society's origins were traced to that of the Heliopic Brotherhood of Ra. By the 18th century, the Brotherhood suffered a schism that erupted over the debate of the origin of Atum. One group believed that Atum was born from the sea and this faction eventually splintered from the Brotherhood to form the Oannes Society. This smaller faction shared the same goals and beliefs as their parent organization but instead held the view that all life and knowledge emerged from the sea.
