Biography
Okuyasu Nijimura (Japanese: 虹村 億泰, Hepburn: Nijimura Okuyasu) was a Japanese male who was the younger brother of Keicho Nijimura (虹村 形兆 Nijimura Keichō). The siblings lived with their father and mother where they were poor but happy. This was until their mother passed away leading to the family initially struggling as their father looked for money. He eventually came upon large sums of money but became more cruel and abusive in the process. This was until one day he suddenly mutated turning him into a deformed bizarre creature. It was then that the brothers learnt that their father had entered into the employ of a man named DIO who had infected the elder Nijimura in 1989 when Okuyasu was only 4 years old. In exchange for his service, he was paid money until DIO was eventually killed leading to the spore within the Nijimura siblings father to mutate him into an undying immortal creature. Keicho and Okuyasu then looked to find a means of killing their father in order to end his misery. They came to acquire the Bow and Arrow which they used to give themselves the powers of a Stand but even they found that they could not kill him as his body healed from his injuries. It was then that Keicho decided to use the Arrow to give random people the power of a Stand in the hope that one would be strong enough to destroy their father. Eventually, they moved to Morioh where they were responsible for giving many people Stand powers though each was not suited for their purpose and thus abandoned.
In their search for a Stand capable of killing their father, the Nijimura brothers end up shooting Koichi Hirose, which would later give him his Stand Echoes. This attracts Josuke Higashikata's attention and a confrontation ensues. Okuyasu reveals his Stand, The Hand, and easily comes close to beating Josuke with his ability, but due to not being very bright, he ends up causing his own defeat. Later, Okuyasu attempt to attack Josuke once again ends with him entering the attack range of Keicho's Stand, Bad Company, becoming collateral damage. Josuke heals him, leaving Okuyasu confused as to why. In order to get even with Josuke, he helps him retrieve Koichi, leaving when Josuke is about to fight Keicho. When the battle settles, and Josuke and Koichi come across their father, Okuyasu attempts to persuade his older brother to stop using the Bow and Arrow to make Stand Users. After explaining their story, Keicho is suddenly killed by the Stand Red Hot Chili Pepper, who steals the Bow and Arrow as Okuyasu can do nothing but watch. Although he understood that his brother would not die a peaceful death because of his deeds, Okuyasu was nonetheless left mourning. He later befriends Josuke and Koichi, enrolling in their high school, Budogaoka, and ending up in the same class as Yukako Yamagishi. Okuyasu receives the benefit of Tonio Trussardi's cooking and his Stand Pearl Jam; deeply affected physically and emotionally. As of the visit, Okuyasu is cured of insomnia, two cavities, a stiff left shoulder, and diarrhea. Afterwards, he becomes a regular at the restaurant.
After his brother died, he sought revenge against the User of Red Hot Chili Pepper, Otoishi Akira. During this time and the following events surrounding Kira Yoshikage, he became fast friends with Josuke and Koichi. Okuyasu tends to be jealous of Koichi's relationship with Yukiko, and enjoys Tonio's cooking. He also befriends Fatty, after doing battle with his Harvest with Josuke. This friendship is why became further enraged when Fatty was killed by Yoshikage Kira.
Overview
Personality and attributes
In appearance, Okuyasu Nijimura was a young man of above-average height and medium to athletic build. Two fine lines cross his face in semicircles passing the inner corners of his eyes. He sports a dark flat-top boogie, the hair at his sides light and slicked back, with two lightning bolt-shaped strands at the back of the D.A. (A.K.A the Ducktail).
Okuyasu Nijimura is an impulsive and violent youth with a good heart nonetheless.
The word that best describes Okuyasu could be "childish", as he possesses several traits hinting to a certain immaturity. Okuyasu is a very extroverted and impulsive man, acting by his own words "with his heart". He consistently shows his emotions, which are more extreme than for the average individual, being ecstatic when he is happy, in tears when he is sad, and enraged when angry. Okuyasu frequently acts out of impulses and rarely takes the time to observe or reflect in a fruitful manner.
Okuyasu has been known to be "not good at making decisions" and being generally dimwitted, although he has moments of genuine ingenuity. Constant reliance on his big brother Keicho Nijimura and belittling from him made Okuyasu unable to make decisions that do not come out of instinct, but he is self-conscious about this limitation. This results in him repeatedly and openly stating his lack of intelligence. His inability to think was exploited on three occasions, and during all this, he was easily psyched out by his opponent. However, Okuyasu eventually grows out of it: at the end of the part, when Okuyasu was hanging between life and death, he took the decision to live and saved Josuke.
He rather dislikes Rohan because of what Rohan tried to do to him when they first met. Eventually Okuyasu seemingly "dies" after suffering mortal wounds during a battle with Yoshikage Kira, only to return after meeting his brother in a dream who asks him where he wants to go, and Okuyasu says "I want to go back to Morioh" which results in Okuyasu waking up.
Powers and abilities
Okuyasu Nijimura was an ordinary human until he and his brother used the Bow and Arrow to give themselves the power of a Stand (スタンド Sutando) that was a visual manifestation of his life energy. In his case, this took the form of a humanoid being that he called The Hand (ザ・ハンド(手) Za Hando). This was a powerful short-ranged that was heavily battle oriented though was not fast. Its greatest power though was manifested in its right palm that was capable of erasing from existence anything it touched. This could range from physical objects to even space itself with Okuyasu stating that even he did not know what happened to those erased by his ability. Once erased, reality would immediately fill and 'stitch up' the lost target by adjacent space and objects, effectively removing any traces of the removed object's existence. Though his Stand was short-ranged, the use of his erasure ability meant that he coul potentially close the gap between him and opponent by erasing the space between them thus bringing them closer to him. It held the potential of being a powerful Stand though much of its effectiveness was dampened due to the low-wit of its user.
The Hand its right hand to erase the space temporarily where the hand moves, seemingly able to warp or summon objects closer to Okuyasu. While this ability is quite dangerous, Okuyasu has a hard time using it effectively. The stand was possibly as strong or fast as Josuke's Crazy Diamond. Its unique power of space erasure makes it theoretically one of the strongest Stands of Diamond is Unbreakable, but as Josuke points out, Okuyasu's slow wit dampens its potential.
Nonetheless, Okuyasu then shows that he is proficient at wielding his Stand. Okuyasu usually doesn't hesitate to use lethal force by trying to swipe The Hand through an enemy. Moreover, he exploits well the unique properties of his erasure power to teleport in the middle of a battle, surprising Red Hot Chili Pepper that way, and tactically erase space to teleport key objects toward himself and seize them. This illustrates that The Hand can not only erase space that it touches, but it also can dictate how the neighboring space is joined together.
