History

The Ood were a humanoid species that were native to the Ood Sphere that was near the Sense Sphere. (Episode: Planet of the Ood)

In time, a human corporation known as Ood Operations was established that was responsible for enslaving the species and breeding them to be servants. The giant Ood brain was contained in Warehouse 15 with a telepathic dampener designed to lower its telepathic hive mind and control the species. This was the fate of the Ood race over the span of 200 years where they were sold to numerous customers. Thus, they were sold to the Second Great and Bountiful Human Empire which had spread and encompassed three galaxies. However, a group came to oppose the slavery of the race where they became activists known as the Friends of the Ood. A man named Dr. Halpen came to infiltrate Ood Operations on the Ood Sphere with the purpose of sabotaging their operation and freeing the people with this plot occurring over a period of 10 years. This saw him tampering with the telepathic dampener around the central Ood brain. (Episode: Planet of the Ood)

Overview

In appearance, the Oodkind resembled humanoids but had a cephalopod with tentacles for a mouth with them having a bald head with no hair. It was said that they were a mildly telepathic race where they could sing into the minds of other races. (Episode: Planet of the Ood)

A giant brain located on the Ood Sphere served as the unifying intelligence of the species and served as a shared mind. (Episode: Planet of the Ood)

Being born with their hindbrains in their hands, they were said to have had no choice but to trust others. (Episode: Planet of the Ood)

Natural born Ood were said to be incapable of harming another person. Whilst in slavery, they were effectively lobotomised with their hind-brains being removed from them and replaced with a translator sphere. Human corporations were known to maintain farms that bred the Ood to serve other people. (Episode: Planet of the Ood)

An Ood biological graft could be ingested by other species and could transform them into an Ood. (Episode: Planet of the Ood)
