History

The Orgham Family

They were noted for having far-reaching historic ties to the city of Gotham, sharing a history and lineage with some of the city's oldest landmarks. (Detective Comics v1 #1064) Upon the settling of Gotham, Anatol Orgham purchased and leased the land in 1692 as part of a treaty. This saw the mayorship of the town gifted a land deed to the Orgham family with stewardship being given to Eduardo Arkham. Following his demise in 1701, the lease passed to his kin in a long line of cousins and nephews. In 1853, the deeds inheritor was Loricius Orgham changed his name in the interest of protecting his trading activities leading to the family being renamed into the Arkhams. In the years that followed, the mayorship of Gotham grew into a town that eventually grew into a city. (Detective Comics v1 #1063)

In 1921, a young Amadeus Arkham built on the Orgham land Arkham Asylum. (Detective Comics v1 #1063)

The destruction of Arkham Asylum was discovered by the Orghams and the matriarch of the family decided to not this sleight pass. She decided that it was the last bastion of their line and looked to reclaim it even if it was under a bastard name. (Detective Comics v1 #1063) After gaining the land deeds, Arzen Orgham was given the task of rebuilding the family's legacy in Gotham City within a year. (Detective Comics v1 #1062)
