Biography

Gavin King

His parents were there when he graduated where they gave him advice and expressed their concerns to him. They were there when he joined a dance troupe and left to see the world. Travelling across the globe, he was noted to had gone to places such as Germany, Paris and Kenya. In this time, he also came to see poverty and war whilst seeing people fight one another over their differences. It was then that he also experienced loss as he saw those close to him die or being kidnapped by evil people. Around this time, King had decided that the madness needed to be stopped where began to train for his new mission. (Batman: Orpheus Rising v1 #4)

Overview

Personality and attributes

As a vigilante, he came to operate under the name of Orpheus. (Batman: Orpheus Rising v1 #2) He once created the the fake identity of Caribbean reporter Basil Brass which he used to get information. (Batman: Orpheus Rising v1 #3)

According to himself, he was honest, clean, thrifty, reverent and observant. (Batman: Orpheus Rising v1 #3)

Music and dance were always to said to be a part of him. (Batman: Orpheus Rising v1 #4)

He had said that killing was not his style. (Batman: Orpheus Rising v1 #3)

Orpheus said that he offered something to Gotham City which was representing black people. (Batman: Orpheus Rising v1 #3)

He had said that he was ready to die for his cause. Orpheus was known to joke but said that just because he did so did not mean he did not take his work seriously. (Batman: Orpheus Rising v1 #4)

It was not that his father had been ex-military whilst his mother had been an ex-dancer. (Batman: Orpheus Rising v1 #4)

Powers and abilities

He had always been strong and fast with his movements being fluid to the point where one flowed to the other rhythmically building to a climax. Orpheus had been taught that speed was often best used to exit a point of danger. (Batman: Orpheus Rising v1 #2) As a child, he learnt to dance that made him fast and strong. Whilst growing up, he came to learn Kung Fu and martial arts which made him feel safe. He came to see it as another kind of dance that taught him balance, strength, speed and the ability to flow in poetic art form. King had trained to the point until the body performed this without effort or thought. (Batman: Orpheus Rising v1 #4)

The visor contained a miniature camera which allowed him to record crime scenes. He can display this footage using a hologram projector on his wrist. (Batman: Orpheus Rising v1 #3) The hands were fitted with a device able to use an advanced form of sonar allowing him to map his local vicinity. (Batman: Orpheus Rising v1 #4)

The suit was fitted with stealth circuitry where the lights and colours changed to blend with the shadows. (Batman: Orpheus Rising v1 #3)

At his home, he had an extensive computer system that aided him in his superhero operations. (Batman: Orpheus Rising v1 #2)
