The Phantom Books are tomes that feature in The Mystic Archives of Dantalian.

Overview

These books were ultimately sources of knowledge and not cursed relics. They did not have to be manuscripts in form as they could appear as stone tablets or even sounds. Phantom Books were capable of a wide variety of feats such as creating various animals, resurrecting the dead or even increasing the intelligence of those around them.

In the hands of a reader capable of comprehending them, a Phantom Book offered them great blessings. However, in unfit hands, they affected the physical world around them and spiraled out of control where they created havoc to all around them. In the hands of a proper user, they were capable of functioning as an ordinary book despite their mystical properties. The strength of a Phantom Book was tied to the waxing and waning of the moon. Once called upon, the reader could being about a range of effects such as evoking mystical shields or call down lightning. However, reading from multiple Phantom Books could be exhausting for the reader.
