History

It was believed to have been one of several ancient artifacts that were left behind by Those Who Have Gone Before and were able to bend the minds of the people to that of the will of the user. The Piece of Eden was one of the greatest weapons known to man as it was capable of ending all wars and ushering in an age of peace.

Abstergo Industries and the Knights Templar that originated it believed that artifacts like the Piece of Eden were responsible for various miracles such as the Parting of the Red Sea and the plagues of Egypt. Beyond its power, it was also proof that there was no God which was why the Templar Order and the Assassins were committed to finding it in order to expose religion as being false.

Each item of a Piece of Eden contained a holographic map that showed the location of all the other artifacts. The Masyaf Piece was destroyed during its experimental use by Abstergo at Denver International Airport.
