Planet Ice is a planet that features in the cartoon series Shadow Raiders.

History

Planet Ice was one of four worlds that belonged to the Cluster; a star system that consisted of a quartet of inhabitable worlds. Ice was the furthest from the star and thus the coldest compared to its neighbours. Despite this being the case, it managed to produce an intelligent insectoid species that created a civilization on its harsh surface. Due to the limited resources on Planet Ice, it was forced to engage in similar acts of invading the neighboring worlds in order to gather precious materials needed for their survival. Similarly, Planet Ice itself was invaded in order to pillage it of water that was frozen on its surface. Such attacks were constantly fought off leading to an intense enimity between Ice and the other three worlds of the Cluster. (Episode: Behold the Beast) These wars were known to had consumed the four worlds and had lasted for centuries which meant Ice had equal reason to distrust as well as hate its neighbours. (Episode: Born in Fire) At some point, the Treaty of Four was established in order to establish a peaceful dialogue amongst the leaders of the Cluster though it eventually became an antiquated treaty that was rarely envoked. (Episode: On the Rocks) One of the last attempts at bringing about a lasting peace was during the Golden Jubilation with King Cryus having attend the event. (Episode: Born in Fire)

Overview

As fitting with its name, this world was covered with ice and glaciers across its surface making it the coldest planet amongst the Cluster. Whilst a frozen world, it was populated by a race of insectoid aliens who managed to form an advanced civilization on its surface similar to the other worlds in the Cluster. Being Humanoid in form with two arms and two legs, they had blue skin and a thin frame with a crown of ice decorated their skull and two antennae sticking out from their eye lid region. Furthermore, their mouths were had a number of mandibles by the side. (Episode: Behold the Beast) Whilst appearing to only possess four limbs, they actually had six as there were as additional pair of arms that were folded away but were capable of being used. In addition, their legs were strong enough to allow them to jump higher compared to other Humanoids. Members of Planet Ice had a low threshold for heat and were more comfortable in colder temperatures. Heat ultimately caused them exhaustion and led to them collapsing due to the stresses it placed on their bodies. (Episode: Born in Fire)

The standing of the royal family prevented the monarchs from berating their children in public. (Episode: Born in Fire)

Amongst its technological wonders included nanonites which were microscopic machines that were capable of wounding as well as healing. In an offensive capacity, they were usually dispersed into the air where they resembled an ice storm that freezes anything it comes into contact with. This made it a powerful weapon against raiders and attackers as their forces could be quickly incapacitated and frozen in place. Furthermore, the nanonite storm aided in masking the movement of Ice's military forces allowing them to ambush their enemies who were caught by surprise by the sudden attack. In regards to its medical capacity, nanonites simply needed to be administered to a wounded portion of the body where they quickly healed any wounds sustained either to organic or cybernetic beings. (Episode: Behold the Beast) In addition, they were used to adapt Ice's inhabitants to warmer planetary conditions such as Planet Fire by coating their bodies surface in order to cope with such temperatures. This process was known as environmental conditioning and took only moments to accomplish. (Episode: Born in Fire)
