Power Broker (Curtiss Jackson)

Curtiss Jackson

He became a professional criminal and an executive with the criminal organization known as the Corporation where he was a manager of the West Coast branch. (Captain America v1 #230) As a member of the Corporation, Jackson attempts to take control of Machine Man. (Machine Man v1 #7)

Jackson came to found a criminal enterprise called Power Broker, Inc. that became the USA's number one strength augmentation clinic. (Captain America v1 #364)

Power Broker (Unknown)

A largely unknown figure, he came to take the name of Power Broker for himself and established a new incarnation of Power Broker, Inc. where he offered powers to individuals for a price. (Avengers: The Initiative Annual v1 #1)

One of his clients was shown to be Paul Brokeridge. After Paul suffered a severe injury when he joined the Unlimited Class Wrestling Federation, his brother Roger tried to get revenge on the person that had given him the powers, as he had indirectly cost his family Paul's expensive treatment. Roger confronted the Power Broker, and instead of killing him, he was convinced to sign in and acquire powers himself. In exchange, the Power Broker said the price would be 70% of whatever profits he generated with his abilities. (Avengers: The Initiative Annual v1 #1)

Notes

  • The concept of the Power Broker was created by Roger Stern and Sal Buscema where it made its first appearance in The Thing v1 #35 (May, 1986).
  • As noted in Comics Interview v1 #54 (1988), the Power Broker concept was devised by Mark Gruenwald as a satire on the public obsession with health and fitness.

  • In The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, the Power Broker appeared in the setting of the live-action television series set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
