Project IET
Project IET was a research program that featured in Mutant X.
Background
Project IET (Intensive Exposure Therapy) was a scientific initiative created by Trendall Laboratories in an effort to create a new cortisol formula that would result in the creation of an experimental treatment for phobias. Dr. Denise Willett was an administrator of one of Trendall's hospitals where the project was being conducted and agreed to test it on some children within the psychiatric ward.
The resulting daily cortisol shots increased the fear response in the test subjects which included entymophone Johnny Cummings, agoraphobe Sandy Fetko and 6 other children when they were exposed to their phobia. In order to put an end to their endless nightmarish experience, Johnny turned on the supply room's gas valves which resulted in an explosion when Nurse Donna Campbell lighted a match in order to smoke. This resulted in the death of the Nurse and the children during the fire.
Dr Willett buried the project files deep within the hospital's basement in the hope that they would never again resurface.
