History

Promethium X was a black ore of unknown origins that was not native to the planet Earth. In the modern age, mankind began its first forays into space through the use of shuttle craft. Among the astronauts assigned to this mission were John Jameson and Paul Stevens where they landed on a rocky airless planetoid. Whilst there, Jameson took samples leading to a black oily substance emerging from the removed rock. He quickly returned to the shuttle unaware that the liquid material was actually an alien entity that attacked the astronauts and caused the craft to crash in New York though Spider-Man managed to stop save the occupants. However, he was unable to stop the Rhino from entering into the shuttle and stealing the rock samples which were called Promethium X. These were returned to his employer, Wilson Fisk who was the Kingpin of crime and the samples were studied by Alistair Smythe. It was their intention of weaponizing the substance and selling it to the hightest bidder after demonstrating the explosive capabilities of even a small portion of the Promethium X sample.

Overview

It was claimed that the substance was more powerful than plutonium. Promethium X was discovered to be highly explosive and unstable with a small piece of the rock being capable of destroying an entire room with the single sample of the ore capable of damaging the Earth itself. A study later revealed from the sample of the ore that extended exposure to Earth's atmosphere made the ore inert and useless which prevented its use as a weapon.

Notes

  • Promethium X makes no appearance in the comic universe and is solely a creation of the animated cartoon though Earth-616 did have a substance called Promethium.
