Biography
Rama
Diana and Rama Chandra travel to Mount Mandara, a sacred Hindu mountain which is the abode of the god Krishna. There, they prepare for Cronus’ invasion. Cronus and his children attack and defeat the Hindu pantheon. This allows Cronos to seemingly absorb the Hindu pantheon’s portion of the Godwave energy. Rama Chandra is rendered powerless by the defeat of his pantheon. However, Rama, Diana, and Haunman, another member of the Hindu pantheon, escape. They vow to continue the fight. Cronos exclaims that he will storm the gates of Heaven. (Wonder Woman v2 #148) Rama Chandra, Diana, and Hanuman return to Earth, find Zeus, and attempt to formulate a plan. However, Zeus remains powerless in a mortal form and seemingly in a state of waking catatonia. Diana suspects that Zeus has knowledge within him that is the key. When he is unable to respond, she strikes him to wake him from his state. He then snaps out of his state offended that she has struck him. Meanwhile, Cronus and his children attack the gates of Heaven. Zeus and Diana discover that the Olympian and Hindu gods are not dead, but instead have merely been rendered mortal. With an exertion of will, they can recall a portion of their power. The members of both pantheons are rejuvenated. They unite and go to face Cronus and his children, who have breached the gates of Heaven. The gods battle and, soon, Zeus surmises that Cronus does not hold the God Wave power within himself, but rather it is within his sickle. Diana wrests the sickle from him and destroys it, returning the power of the two pantheons. Soon, the battle turns against Cronus and his children. Desperate, Cronus attempts to touch the Presence itself. The power overwhelms him, and he is humbled. Gaea appears and takes him and his children back into herself. After this, the various pantheons agree to work cooperatively to avoid such attacks in the future. (Wonder Woman v2 #149)
After their release, the pair fought Kali and Arachne. During the battle, Rama went berserk and challenged the Hindu death goddess directly. After they had defeated the goddess and the Arachne, Rama left for parts unknown. (Wonder Woman v2 #152)
Overview
Personality and attributes
Powers and abilities
As an avatar of the Hindu god Vishnu, Rama possesses the power of flight, and in battle he wields a sword and the bow of Vayu, which shoots flaming arrows.
When his life is in danger, he is able to enter a berserker rage that heals all his wounds, and cures all toxins, at the expense of him destroying his surroundings and killing any nearby humans. While berserk, he removes his crown to expose his third eye and grows two extra arms, taking on the superficial features of Kali. According to myth features like the 'third eye' and 'berserker rage' are attributed to another Hindu god Shiva. (Wonder Woman v2 #152)
Tiger, Judomaster's former sidekick turned evil, claims to be using Rama's axe in his guise as the Avatar, but the truth of this has yet to be substantiated.
