Biography

Origin

Ben Krullen

As a young soldier in the 1950s Martin was repeatedly exposed to radiation during atomic bomb tests, and years later this would begin to alter his body’s atomic structure. Krull later served in Vietnam, and committed many atrocities against civilians. One day his questionable activities sparked a fight between him and fellow soldier Joshua Clay. After returning from Vietnam, Krull drifted from job to job until he was lured into working for the criminal group known as the Council. Its’ scientists studied his odd physiology, discovering that his body was giving off radioactive energy. They enhanced this ability and provided him with a suit to control his power. He performed many jobs from his employers as Reactron until he ran afoul of Power Girl and the Doom Patrol. Reactron has a particular grudge against the Doom Patrol, because he recognized his old enemy Joshua Clay as team member Tempest I. Reactron created a nuclear explosion over Chicago, and it took all of Power Girl’s might to contain it. Reactron overloaded on the radiation and exploded. (Daring New Adventures of Supergirl v1 #8)

Post-Crisis

Following the Crisis on Infinite Earths, a new version of reality was created with a different history of events.

Disillusioned with the way his life was going, Benjamin Krullen decided to join the United States Army. One night, during guard duty at a top secret government project, he was seriously injured. In order to keep Krullen alive, the scientist in charge of the project gave him a special suit, the StarSuit. (Superman: Secret Files 2009 v1 #1)

Larry Trainor came to find Reactron at Belle Reve prison, and took him to his laboratory under the pretense of studying his powers. Larry then strapped a bomb to Reactron offered him a deal. Larry’s body used to be the host for an alien energy creature dubbed the Negative Being, and without it Larry was now dying. Reactron could use his energy absorption powers to steal the Negative Being for Larry, or he could die. Reactron gladly accepted the deal, absorbing the Negative Being from its’ current host Negative Woman, then reuniting it with Larry. (Doom Patrol v2 #11)

Post-Flashpoint
