Film

Originally test pilot Clifford Secord, he found a jet-pack in 1938 (built by Howard Hughes for the U.S. Government) that had been left in his hangar by gangsters that stole it. He soon learned that the jet-pack could enable a man to fly, and, with the help of his mechanic friend Peevy, designed a helmet that enabled him to steer with it. Using these, Secord became the superheroic Rocketeer, but soon became the target of government G-men, Eddie Valentine's gangsters, and Neville Sinclair, the Hollywood actor who hired Eddie and was really a Nazi collaborator.

Despite being caught by the G-men, Secord managed to escape and stop Sinclair from taking the jet-pack to the Nazis in a battle on a zeppelin. This battle ended in the death of Sinclair and the destruction of the jet-pack, as well as Secord's career as the Rocketeer- but he lived happily ever after with his love Jenny Blake.
