- Rossum's Universal Robots was created as a Czech science fiction play by Karel Čapek where it premiered on 25 January 1921.
- In Batman: The Animated Series, H.A.R.D.A.C. was created by a scientist named Karl Rossum.
- In Joss Whedon's Dollhouse, the company that founded the Dollhouse organization was named Rossum Corporation and according to Clyde 2.0 was named after Rossum's Universal Robots.
