Biography

Roy Mustang (Japanese: ロイ・マスタング, Hepburn: Roi Masutangu) was a human male who was orphaned as a young age and came to be adopted by Chris Mustang who was his father's younger sister. She brought him up with the intention of becoming a fine gentleman but during his life he came to find that he had an infinity for alchemy. This saw him taking basic instruction in this craft from the master alchemist Berthold Hawkeye in the hope of becoming a source of strength and knowledge to the people of Amestris.

Overview

Personality and attributes

In appearance, Roy Mustang was a clean-shaven young man with dark eyes and dark hair that was usually casually unkempt that normally fell over his eyes though in formal or somber situations he kept it neatly slicked back. His speciality led to him being known as the Flame Alchemist (焔の錬金術師 Honō no Renkinjutsushi).

In one case, he was shown to had used his flames to burn his wounds to seal them where he nearly passed out from the pain.

Powers and abilities

Mustang came to find that he had an affinity towards alchemy leading to him receiving training under master alchemist Berthold Hawkeye.

He made use of custom-made gloves that worked to enable his unique style of combat alchemy. These were made of a pyrotex/ignition cloth that could create sparks when Mustang rubbed his fingers together. In addition, they were embroidered with a unique flame alchemy transmutation circle allowing him to quickly use his flame alchemy in combat.
